| Personal History | Hok was born and raised on Ferenginar. He was the younger of two brothers. Because he was bigger and stronger than a typical Ferengi, he chose working in security and as a bodyguard to earn profit. He was going to start his own company, but a plan by his father and older brother put a halt on that. Hok's father and brother wanted to do business with the Orion Syndicate, something Hok strongly disliked. They felt it opened many opportunities, but when Hok wouldn't be part of it, they said he didn't have the lobes. About a year passed, when Hok sensed something was wrong. He asked, but his father and brother wouldn't talk about it. Not long after, both his father and brother were killed in a shuttle accident. A few days after that, his mother fell into a coma the doctors couldn't explain. Something was terribly wrong. Hok resolved to live his life, but he noticed he was being followed. Late one night, he was confronted by two, large men who demanded he give them 'the item'. He didn't know what that was, so after a beating, he was warned he had one week to deliver, or else. The next day, his business license was revoked. Having only one choice, he made arrangements for his mother, then fled his home and went to Earth, the only place he thought he'd be safe. Hok was still a Ferengi, so he was able to acquire enough assets to open an old-fashioned speakeasy in New Orleans. He enjoyed himself until he saw the same two men that confronted him on Ferenginar. In an act of desperation to save his life, Hok applied to join Starfleet Academy. There was initial suspicion, but he passed the entrance exams and as accepted. |

| Service Record | At first, Hok had a difficult time being accepted by other cadets in the academy, even though he was a good student. He was a true Ferengi, but in order to fit in, he had to at least show he was accepting the ideals of the Federation and Starfleet. During down times, he organized secret Texas Hold 'Em poker games, and after four years of not getting caught, he had accumulated a fair amount of latinum. Hok graduated with a major in security and tactical. At age 30, he was assigned to the USS Andromeda. |
