ON:

Amelia was finishing cleaning up. Her back was starting to ache but she was ignoring it at the moment, wanting to get their quarters back to normal. “I think that went really well, don’t you?” She asked Syvar as she placed the last of the plates into the replicator.

"Yes," Syvar answered as he moved to help her. "It was nice to meet some of your friends. Perhaps, next time we're headed to earth, I can introduce you to my parents?"

"Do they still have the house with the veranda in the outback..." Her voice trailed off and she looked confused for a moment. "How did I know that? I can see it in my mind and I've seen it before."

"I don't know," Syvar answered, not realizing nor remembering they had shared dreams and minds before. "They do still have the house with veranda," he acknowledged, pondering for a moment. "I don't remember telling you about it..." He shook his head. "You'll love it there," he smiles, taking her hands within his, "and mom and dad will love you, I promise."

“I’m sure I will.” She replied as she gave the room a quick look over with a critical eye, before turning back to look at him. “I can picture it so clearly. It’s to be hoped they like me after all...”. She placed a hand on her stomach. “Have you told them yet? “ she Asked as came over to him and slipped her hands around his waist. “That they’re going to be grandparents?”

"No, I haven't told them yet," he acknowledged with a rueful smile, "I haven't really had a chance to." It wasn't the complete truth though because while he didn't have a chance, he also hadn't wanted to yet. "And I wanted to keep you for myself for a little while longer," he admitted, "the news I mean. Just until it's safe to tell them, until we know for sure nothing will go wrong."

He paused, drawing her close to him. "And until I feel better because I don't want to unnecessarily worry them. Humans do worry too much, and my parents are no different."

Amelia drew herself into him. "I understand" she replied. She could tell he was holding something back but let it pass. She felt happy and secure in his arms. "I haven't told my parents yet. I'm sure you'd love Dad's restaurant. He's the one who taught me how to cook. Anyway, I'm exhausted. are you coming to bed?"

"Yes." The answer was a simple one as he gazed off into the distance across her shoulder. He released her and watched her walk off.

Amelia headed for their bedroom and started taking off her dress. "Draxx really surprised Melody with talk of another baby. I don't think she'd even considered it, after what happened with Sansa."

"I think they're well beyond considering," Syvar said as he peeled off his own clothes and crawled into bed. "I think Melody already is pregnant."

Amelia frowned. "I don't think so. From what Melody told me, she brought Sansa to term in less than 2 months. She told me that she didn't want to have another baby if it aged at the same rate as Sansa. She had to go through some..... creative medical treatment at Starfleet Medical before they managed to normalize her aging."

"That doesn't mean it'll happen again though," Syvar pointed out, "and the way she spoke, I honestly feel she already is. She might just not fully understand it yet."

Amelia climbed into bed and patted the space next to her, eager for him to join her. "I know Melody can be impulsive, sometimes reckless but I don't think she's pregnant. Not yet at least. Not with the amount of wine she knocked back this evening. She always had a soft spot for a glass of red."

She placed her hand on her own stomach. "Only being pregnant for two months. I can't even imagine that."

Since he had already crawled in, he scooted closer to her, resting his hand lightly on her stomach. "Have you told your parents yet?" he asked. He'd already told her he hadn't told his but he was curious towards her response.

Amelia shook her head. She then spoke up "Computer. What is the current time in Austin, Texas?"

"0200, Central standard time." The computer replied.

"Dad will have shut up the restaurant and they'll both be in bed now. They haven't even met you yet." She thought for a moment. "How about I call them tomorrow morning so you can say hello. Maybe we hold off on the baby bombshell for a little while?" she said as she intertwined her fingers with his. "Mind you, Dad has always been able to see right through me. He's the only one I can't beat at poker. He can tell when I'm bluffing."

"It's medically safe to break the news as of twelve weeks," Syvar told her, unconsciously slipping into medical mode, "your hormone levels will reduce and the placenta will take over taking care of the baby while it grows." He still held his hand to her stomach, making sure to keep skin contact as though he could somehow feel the baby. He didn't but it made him feel connected.

She nodded "You're right, of course." She leaned closer and kissed him before moulding her body to his. She took a deep, content sigh. "I take it you won't be joining Draxx on his little fishing expedition?" She asked playfully.

"No I don't think so." Syvar shook his head as he leaned it against her shoulder. "Are you?"

Amelia smiled and shook her head. "Fishing is not really my thing. We used to go rafting down the Colorado River when I was younger but that was about it when it came to the water. "When this mission is over it will be nice to have to some time to relax and settle down.... Oh No!"

Startled, Syvar sat up, eyes wide as he stared at her. "What is it? Are you unwell?"

"No, it's just.... Back in a moment." She suddenly leaped out of bed as her hand flew to her mouth. She then made a dash for the bathroom.

Syvar dashed after her, adrenalin making him forget about his still healing body. Patiently, he held her long hair up as she vomited. "Still feeling sick?" he asked her, concern lacing his voice, "do you want me to prescribe you anything for it? Do you want to go by sickbay?"

She shook her head as she sat down in front of the toilet. "No drugs.... But could you hold my hair?" She asked turning slightly green. "As a doctor, You should know this is normal for human females when there expecting. Just promise you'll still love me regardless of what you're about to witness." She managed to get out before throwing up.

'I am holding your hair," Syvar reassured her, doing his best not to yank it, "and I've seen you throw up before... and I'm a doctor, I've seen far worse than this."

When the sickness had subsided, Amelia caught her breath. "I'm Ok, could you pass me a glass of water please?"

Dutifully, Syvar passed her a glass of cool water, watching her like a hawk.

She swilled some water around her mouth and spat it out. She then took a long drink. "Come on, let's get back to bed." She brought the glass of water back with her which she set down on her night table. She then reassumed her position in Syvar's arms. "I hope you appreciate all this hard work I'm having to put in. You had the easy job."

"Did I?" The young Vulcan was genuinely confused. "How do I have the easy job, when I am taking care of you?"

Amelia chuckled softly. "You really do play the innocent Vulcan well." She looked lovingly at him and ruffled his hair. She kisses him again. "You do look after me so well and I am grateful for it but, all you had to do is sow your seed, so to speak. I'm the one who has to carry and nurture our little one till she's ready to meet the world." She yawned, starting to drift off to sleep in his arms. "I love you so much...." she muttered as she started to snore softly.

Syvar had stiffened when she spoke, her voice echoing the words someone else had spoken to him. A voice far more menacing yet very much the same. He relaxed as she snuggled into him, whispering words that meant far far more to him. "I love you too, " he whispered, shifting to ease them both into a more comfortable position. He pulled the sheets up to cover both of them, then wrapped a protective arm around her.

Amelia continued to snore softly, giving no indication that she had noticed Syvar's uncomfortable shift. Yet, she whispered a reply between snores, probably not fully conscious of having said it "Everything will be fine, you'll see..."

"I know..." he whispered back, settling her against himself, softly stroking her hair as he too started to drift off.
