ON:

Amelia was in her office going through the personnel paperwork when she noticed 2 officers had been out in for the bridge officers test. She tapped her comm badge “Ensign Hawkins and Lieutenant Chang Lau Please report to the XO’s office.”

Michael arrived just a short time later, stepping into the XO's office. "Hello, Lieutenant Fox, is there something I can do for you?" since she called him and Xu to the office, he felt it wasn't the time to address Amelia informally.

Xu arrived as Michael was asking his question, she herself had been in the midst of recovering herself from the date she had been on, but her hair was still pulled up in an elaborate headdress... As she was off duty she hoped it wouldn't be an issue.
"Lieutenant, please forgive my appearance, I was enjoying some time in the holodeck with... someone!"

Michael raised an eyebrow at Xu's response, feeling some curiosity, wondering who it was she had been out with. He quickly dismissed the thought for the time being. It was time to focus on what was at hand.

Amelia looked at her and frowned slightly. "Come now lieutenant, appearance is important for an aspiring bridge officer."

"I completely agree sir, I did not want to keep you waiting longer than necessary, that is why my hair is not regulation"
Chastised, and rightly so, but Xu could appreciate why the Lieutenant was being so formal. This was certainly not how she wanted to be seen by the crew.

Amelia took a breath and addressed them both. "You are here because I see you've both been put forward for the bridge officers test. As the first officer, I shall be carrying out that test. Now I should warn you, not everyone is cut out for the bridge officers test and I will not be making this easy. There are 6 modules to the test. Tactical, command, ethics, diplomacy, medical, piloting and engineering." Are there any questions before we start?"

"Just one sir" Xu chimed. "Are you able to give us any guidance or advise with areas that we are weaker on. I know that the engineering and tactical modules will be my weaker areas".

Amelia smiled at her. "I will give you as much help as I can. There is a lot of material in the ship's computer for you to study. I've made the relevant files available to you."

"I do not have any questions at this time, Sir." Michael stated, his demeanour all business, and very focused. Though, beneath it all, Michael wondered if he would pass certain areas. He had studied, but wasn't sure if all that he learned would get him through the tests.

"Good. You have 24 hours to prepare for the first part of the test. Meet me on holodeck 1 tomorrow at 0600 so I can show you a practice scenario. I suggest you use your time wisely. Dismissed."

It was some small relief that the first officer would be able to at the very least offer some guidance, within certain boundaries Xu assumed, but it was still a little bit of weight lifted from her shoulders.
"Yes sir!"

Michael gave a nod, giving a quick smile towards Amelia, saying, "Thank you sir, will see you at O600" then smartly turned and left the XO's office.
