"I have decided what I want to do," True said suddenly as they made their way through the station. She grinned at him and knew full well he had access to her emotions. "And since you said I could pick . . . I'm sorry in advance." She pulled him toward a salon sign that mentioned they did manicures and pedicures.

Jon looked at the sign and groaned. “Oh your not sorry at all. You going to enjoy making me wait around while you get your nails done and you know what I deserve that ... I’ve been so busy ..... barely seen you and I’m sure I will enjoy looking at how beautiful they are as much as you do,” he spun it round to a compliment. “You should really get spoilt. Let’s not stop at nails. Full pampering ...” he said allowing her to pull him in.

"Oh so cute, you think it's just me?" She grinned and asked the attendant for a pedicure to begin with, for both of them. "I'm thinking some nice bright color. Maybe red to match his uniform when he wears it? I mean who is going to know if he wears shoes all the time on the job."

"No no no," Jon said. "No red. Maybe a foot massage and sorting out the toe nails but no polish.

Why am I being punished?" he asked True as he sensed the amusement of the attendants around them.

" oh don't be a spoil sport, it won't hurt you and no one's going to see your feet except me. It's fun," she grinned at him. "I don't generally get to tease you this thoroughly."

"I'll take the pedicure, but If I have to have red toenails I get to pick what colours she has," Jon stated just as playfully.

"See, that doesn't bother me at all. I'm not afraid of color. " True grinned back at him. " Go for it."

“Do you do those cute little picture things on the nails?” He asked the attendant. “I’m thinking greys and blue to match her eyes. Hasn’t she got beautiful eyes,” he said. “Could you do a little penguin on each finger nail. Sorry love you know I just can’t resist a penguin.”

True laughed heartily. "It figures that you would pick that. Go for it." she told the nail artist. Not that True would have been scared of anything Jon picked out. She was a counselor after all and had heard many things in her career that scared her far more than some color and little images on her nails. "So . . . I can go with the red then on your toes?" She asked grinning.

It was pointless trying to put up an argument he figured, “Ok as long as only you see it and it’s not used for any blackmail purposes,” he said. “Our little secret.”

"Oh honestly, who is going to care if your toes are red?" True chuckled. "I promise not to use it for blackmail," she kissed him. "I think I could come up with something better for that."

"Im not sure how to feel about that last sentence. Proud, impressed, worried, terrified ..." Jon said sitting down and pulling his shoes and socks off so he could have his toe nails painted.

"Do you guys get a lot of men in here having toenails painted?" he asked.

The woman looked up from what she was doing. "Sure, some. They like the attention like everyone else. Even had a couple of guys say they thought painting their toenails was sexy," the woman wiggled her eyes at him.

It was all True could do not to burst out laughing. She sucked in a breath and ended up coughing as she swallowed wrong.

"You okay there sweetheart," Jon asked. "This too sexy for you?" he wiggled his big toe now a shade of command red. "

"I know I promised, I'm regretting that now. I so wish this were being recorded." True replied still giggling. "I'm next, but mine won't be anything as fine as yours I'm sure."

"Nope but it will have penguins," Jon said relaxing a little "And anything with penguins is a good thing! Okay 9 more to go. You sure you can handle this?" he asked cheekily.

"Oh yes." True replied, her smile practically cutting into her lips. "This is going to be etched into my brain for a very very long time.

"Enjoy it sweetheart. I got word of our next mission today. Its a routine boring one. You need something to keep making you smile," Jon said simply leaning back actually starting to enjoy having his toes pampered.

"After starships being eaten and planet killers coming after people, boring will be nice." True replied, and meant it. She was actually looking forward to some downtime. Somehow that never seemed to happen much in Starfleet. Plus, her brother was on board. It would be good to get to see him more. "But I will think about this for some time to come, that will bring me many smiles." She could just barely reach to kiss him as she was now having her own toes worked on and she didn't want to move too much.

"Well that's all that matters right now. You being happy," Jon said. "And at least just the ship got eaten. Everyone got safely off. Which reminds me. How is Vern? Should we have him for dinner again?" he asked.

"I think that's a great idea. I don't want him sitting around moping or hiding. I'll invite him when we get back. "

"Yeah I also want to butter him up as I'm gonna pinch a couple of his staff," Jon admitted. "You any idea what his plans are? I mean Im sure I could find a place for him on the Andromeda if he wanted it."

True chuckled about him pinching staff. "Nope, I honestly haven't talked to him much since the whole blowing up his ship thing. Enough to make sure he was okay and then I thought I'd let him come to me. Hopefully he's seen another counselor about that business."

"Well he can stay on the Andromeda as long as he wants too of course," Jon said.

"Now look at that ...." he said suddenly wiggling all his toes. "Im fully coordinated in red," he said excitably leaning over trying to get a glimpse of a penguin.

She grinned, watching him lean over to see hers. "See, this was a great idea. All my ideas are good ones, people just need to listen to me once in a while."

"I always listen to you," Jon grinned. "So what's next? Lunch? Where would you like to go?"

"Lunch sounds good," True smiled. This afternoon was turning into a much better one than the last.
