=^=Reynolds to Fox. Lieutenant is our chief of security onboard now?=^=

=^=Fox here Captain. I'm with Lieutenant Haulval now but we're on the Starbase.=^=

=^=Good can you bring him up to my ready room. I want to brief him personally=^=

=^=Aye Sir. I'll bring him straight there. Fox out.=^=

When the door to his ready room opened and his number one and a very lanky young looking gentleman with pointed ears stepped in. Jon stood up and offered his hand to the other man. "Commander Jonathan Reynolds."

"Lieutenant Haulval," the Vulcan answered, clearly familiar with the customary Terran handshake as he reached out and met the Commander with a very firm grasp. "It is an honor to be here, sir."

Jon nodded at Amelia. "Thank you number one. I want you to stay and be part of this,"

"Yes Sir" Amelia said as she took a seat opposite Jon

"Lieutenant Haulval, I am very pleased to have you with us and at such short notice. Your predecessor is unfortunately in a coma right now due to the events of yesterday and I am keen to get you up to date and plan out what we can do to understand who this …. group … the Cetea are. I understand you have some background in intel. As such I want to be able to utilise those skills as well as your security/tactical training," Jon said coming right to the point.

"I agree," Haulval replied succinctly. He preferred the commander's efficient style of getting right to the point. "The majority of my career in Starfleet to this point has been in signals analysis. I would suggest that we apportion a significant part of the main computer's processing time as well as the lateral sensor platform to that endeavour immediately. It may or may not pay off, but if there is a collaboration between individuals on the station and a larger group, we may be able to find it."

"Oh we are definitely going to find them. You do that - whatever the XO and Chief of Engineering are happy to spare at present. Until we get an Ops officer to officially negotiate Computer processing time and memory," he grinned. "But start getting that in place. I will get Stella Cartography on looking for any indications of terraformed worlds or habitable planets they could have settled on since leaving Ba'Ku decades ago.

I also want you to start talking to people Lieutenant. Anyone we meet out there, start establishing a mini "Intelligence network" if you will, as I doubt the Cetea are the only angry people we will encounter. And I'll be honest I don't want them or any other unfriendlies to get the jump on us if we can avoid it," Jon said.

Haulval inclined his head at the order, "Understood, Commander. I also plan to meet with department and section leaders to identify potential areas for internal security trainings and drills-- self defense, department readiness, firearm training."

Amelia added "I've asked Counselor Keading to do a psyche profile on the Cetea so hopefully we can work out what makes them tick."

"Yes good thinking number one. The station has one in custody. Let's try get that Son'a in our brig," Jon said the thought occurring to him. He turned back to the Vulcan security chief, "And Lieutenant - I like it. Start putting everybody through their paces. We want to be ready for anything."

Amelia spoke up. "I tried to contact the Ensign we spoke to earlier, Brookes I believe but he was unavailable so I left him a message."

"If he doesn't come back to you soon let me know and I will personally put the fear of god in him," Jon said. "Or better still sick my new security chief on him."

Haulval didn't know the captain well, but assumed the statement to be an accurate threat. "I will take a security team to the station following the senior leadership briefing and retrieve the Son'a. If we have the proper documentation, there will be no reason for the ensign or anyone else to deny the prisoner transfer."

Amelia chuckled "A Vulcan with a sense of humor. So they do exist. I'm sure it won't come to that Lieutenant so holster that phaser. We'll let you know when."

"I appreciate the enthusiasm though Lieutenant," Jon added with a nod. "Right well I have some comm. calls to make. Welcome aboard Lieutenant. I'm sure you have plenty of unpacking and exploring the ship to do. See you both nice and early in the staff meeting in the morning. Dismissed."
