"Ensign ... I mean chief," Oliver said rushing after Chief Mathews. "Wait up. Doctor Kuroka, he's probably not in a good place perhaps. He's lost someone, I've lost someone. Maybe I can help and well he is waiting in my transporter room."
With the security squad being told to stand down and departing transporter room 3. C'Tora sat in the shadows on his haunches with eyes fixed on the transporter pad and his hand on the medical kit, watching and waiting. He ignored the Ensign as he spoke to him, it was hard to focus on anything except wanting M'Tara back and trying not to give into the desire to track down the bastard that took his soulmate and shred him to pieces with his claws and fangs until there was nothing left to rend, and god help him if C'Tora ever found out who he was.
"If you have any insights into how to bring the Doctor out of that room safely then I am all ears. I am still new here to you will know him better... and he's not the only one who lost someone." Harper said trying to conceal her lost soul, the Captain. "Victor, stay close please but let's not crowd him. Less is more sometimes in emotional situations."
The doors opened and she saw C'Tora looking moments away from jumping the next person that spoke to him. The tension in the room was tangible enough to be cut by the very claws on his paws. "Doctor..." Harper said softly.
"Hello Doctor Kuroka. I'm Ensign Traconis, so... I need to find out something from you." Victor began, he decided to just create a different track of thought for the doctor to focus on. "When shall I report to you for a medical examination?" sure it was out of the blue but, maybe this could work?
C'Tora turned to look at the person speaking to him and stared at him blankly for several moments before blinking his eyes and looking around at the transporter room. " What? " Looking confused. " Medical exam... Yes, yes, You need an Exam. Ensign I normally don't do exams in the transporter room unless it is an extreme emergency. You're not hurt are you ? " C'Tora stood up to full height and then appeared confused as he saw his hands. " Why are my claws out? " He asked as he retracted them. He picked up the medical kit next to him. " We need to go to Sickbay to give you a proper examination. What was your name again Ensign? "
"It is Ensign Traconis. I think that the other two with me need an exam. We were looking for you." Victor stepping to one side to allow the others to come through the door. "Sound like a plan, Doctor, Lieutenant Stevens and Ensign Matthews?" Maybe Victor was stepping out of bounds here but, it looked like this was working.
C'Tora gave a sideward glance to the three men in front of him and gave a toothy grin. " All right gentlemen, I'll follow you to Sickbay and we'll get these exams done so you can return to duty. " C'Tora slung the strap of the medical bag over his shoulder and started walking towards the nearest turbolift. He pulled a PADD from the bag and started inputting data. " Names, department , exam dates. " He said very softly as he checked the data he input. They got into the turbolift. " Sickbay. " and the turbolift whisked them away to their destination. Upon arrival at Sickbay, C'Tora pointed towards two biobeds. " Gentlemen, please wait by the biobeds numbers 4 and 5 over there, I'll be with you in a few minutes. " As he dropped off the extra gear in his office.
Oli wasn't sure why he needed an exam but if it helped the doc during this time he was willing. He nodded at one of his staff to stay put and followed suit. "If its any consolation doc, I know how you feel. I just lost my partner as you know and now my daughter. You and your staff have been wonderful and if I can return the favour and be of support to you in any way just know I'm here."
C'tora placed his hand on Oliver's shoulder. " Back in the transporter room it took me a couple of minutes to figure out that the three of you were doing your best to distract me, You helped me refocus and get my mind out of a dark place. The light of my life and my soulmate had been taken from me and it felt like my heart had been ripped out and I just wanted to either die or get at the person who had caused the pain. " A tear trickled from the corner of C'Tora's eye. " And the offer of support and comfort was so sincere and genuine that it truly moved me with such gratitude knowing that I had such friends who were filled with so much love and concern for me that it's overwhelming. For that I thank you from the bottom of my heart, And if the time comes where I need to seek you out for your honest counsel and tender wisdom I shall indeed come to you and accept your offer. And please remember, If there is anything that I can do for you , then please don't hesitate to ask. "
While C'Tora spoke to Oliver, Victor leaned in to speak to Harper, "Sorry if I might have taken over this situation... It was the only thing I could think of." the dark haired man said, offering an apologetic smile. "Also um reporting in for duty? Kind of a strange way to start my first week of duty here on this ship."
"That's okay, Ensign." Harper replied with a smile. "You did what needs to be done. I'm happy to see that in people and you helped the situation greatly. Welcome on board." she placed a hand on his shoulder before turning to the Doctor. "We will get them back Doctor, you can count on it. I've got someone on there I want back as well."
A curious expression crossed Victor's face, noting the sadness in the Security chief's demeanor. He didn't know whom it was who had been grabbed that she cared for, it might be found out later on. For now though a situation has been taken care of and no one got hurt.
C'Tora nodded an acknowledgement but remained quiet. He had to have faith that she would return safe and sound, and knew he had a lot of support from this crew. Crew? no that wasn't right. This was his extended family, and regardless what happened they would have his back and be there for him. With that in mind he gave a weak smile and continued his work.
"I'm going to make a suggestion," Oliver said. "Losing someone isn't easy. Even if they get returned your going through something pretty big and emotionally your all over. We have a decent counselor. She even helped me call Xus parents after you know ... above and beyond. I think everyone would benefit from going to speak to Cassie."
"It is true, that would be a good thing to do. Speaking of the Counselor, I'll be needing to go meet with her as well." Victor remarked, looking towards what is going on in sickbay.
C'Tora overheard Victor's comment about the counselor visit and paused for a moment. There had been many times that he had prescribed a visit to the counselor as part of the treatment for recovery of not only the body, but the mind as well. This has certainly been a traumatic experience for him, So it was time to take his own advice and picked up the PADD and forwarded a request for session and to reserve a time and forwarded it to the counselors PADD.
