ON:

As the doors to the turbolift closed Jon hit his comm. badge.

=^=Reynolds to Main Shuttlebay, get an immediate quarantine on the sample that Phineus is bringing back in and get the XO and chief engineer beamed to sickbay. I assume Dr Syvar will also be quarantining," he looked at the Vulcan quiz ably.=^= We are on route to meet them there.=^=

=^=Aye sir=^=

He turned to everyone. "I'm not really sure what just happened. It looked to just turn to dust. Well every part of it not in the shuttle. But there was clearly a presence communicating. We need to speak with them and get as much information as we can there and determine that both officers are okay and not in any way compromised from that presence. Counselor that means your up."

"Yes sir." She was also going to review the communication logs so that she could hear the conversation going on in the background again.

"Yes Doctor Syvar will want to quarantine them," the young Vulcan answered, already moving. "I'll run down to sickbay and get decon prepared for them. Beam them straight into decon." He was gesturing wildly as he spoke, before breaking into a run.

Jon watched as the Vulcan spirited off down the corridor. "We will be right behind you," he said simply as it felt like that needed acknowledging.

"So lets recap. We have a great big monolith, now no more. Seemingly a beacon to warn folk off some not so nice folks who we all seem to have been dreaming about in various forms. You were right counselor. It was alien contact. Well in some form we don't understand … And there home world, system, domain is called Tarturus. I'm somewhat uneasy on that going by what you reported back in the databanks.

They turned the corner sickbays doors in sight. "Lieutenant Belikov another thing on the list to ask about when you guys go to this marketplace. How are you feeling about developments? How do we defend from a potential big bad in a place that sounds like pure hell, if we inadvertently stumble into it?"

"They might respond better if there weren't a lot of people in sickbay." True reminded everyone. "Just a suggestion."

Rose thought for a moment, "at this point, blending in as much as possible seems like the best option"

Jon chuckled. His security officer was clearly a woman of few words. Straight to the point. "Of course," he agreed.

"And yes once I know they are okay I'll get out of your hair Counselor," he said to True. "But Lieutenant Belikov will stay down there. Just to make sure everything's safe." The last thing he wanted was Karakalakss still hallucinating that thing from her home world again and sickbay getting inadvertently smashed up.

Meanwhile Syvar was making preparations for full quarantine of the decon area. He was nervous of course, this was a big assignment for him and it wasn't something he had pulled off before. He turned as the doors open. "Sickbay is ready to receive," he announced just as a forcefield visibly snapped in place.

"Beaming them to you now Doctor," an unfamiliar voice from one of the transporter rooms responded. "We have also isolated and contained the sample and its gone directly to the science labs," it added.

Amelia materialised in th quarantine area of sickbay. She looked around with a sigh. “Oh joy. Why oh why did I volunteer for this mission? I must remember to thank our chief engineer for this singular privilege.” She was still muttering to herself when a second transporter beam started to energise.

Lilura appeared inside the quarantined area force field. She was standing at parade rest while waiting for the beam out from the shuttle. She wasn't sure if it would have happened during the trip when they got close or after docking, but she was ready. Her tail came around to wave at the gaggle of officers looking at them through the force field. "Howdy all." She looked over at Amelia and asked, humor in her voice, "So, does this room have a hamster wheel and salt block as well?"

“Ahhh, glad you could join me Lieutenant and I believe the hamster wheel is being brought up from stoarage.” Amelia popped herself down on the couch that was attached to the cell wall. “I don’t suppose we can get some room service?”

Lilura gurgled in her chest and then went to sit down on the floor, using her tail to form a semi cushion between her and the wall. "Room service sounds good. I am a touch hungry."

Jon and his party arrived to join the doctor behind the forcefield looking in to the Decom area. "Nice to have you both back," Jon said to Fox and Karakalakss. "And hold that thought for a couple of hours number one. Doctor, how are they both?"

Syvar shook his head as he glanced up from his tricorder. "I don't know yet sir, I probably won't know for another few hours. I suggest they make themselves comfortable in there and tell me when they start to feel different from what they do now."

Amelia looked up “Ahh Captain. I don’t know about Lieutenant Karakalakss here but I feel fine and I’m not really one for chillin’ my heals in quarantine so I’d like to get out of here before we go stir crazy if that’s ok?”

"No!" Syvar responded harshly even before the captain could respond. "I'm sorry ma'am but until I know for sure that you've brought nothing contagious on board you're staying put." He pointed towards the decon room they were in. "Right there."

Jon nodded proud at the younger man for establishing his authority in sickbay. Although he would have preferred to have been allowed to speak first.

"Got to be all squared up with the Doc, Fox." He backed up the Doctor and turned to him. "Keep me appraised," then turned to True, "They are all yours counselor once the docs happy of course and Fox, don't you be causing trouble."

"Oh I think we'll be fine." True found herself a stool and sat back, out of the way of the doctor for observation of the crew members and some questions when the doctor was finished.

"Now if you will excuse me I have a Trill to go check in with next," Jon said heading to the door. He stopped and looked back. "Good work though all of you on getting that sample,"

Amelia hung her head slightly “I had a feeling you were going to say that, and I always stay out of trouble Captain...... well I try.”

She turned to Lilura “Looks like we’re going to be here for a while Lieutenant.”

Lilura answered Amelia, "Yippers, as L'Tandrey are want to say. Now we just need a deck of cards or a chess set." She looked over to Syvar. "Hey Doc, you do realize we were on the shuttle the whole time, never got out once, and retrieved the piece of the monolith using external measures, so contagions there shouldn't be. However, please do keep on the lookout for any body changed as whatever mechanism disintegrated the monolith might have affected us some way. And, hence why the Counselor is here observing to see if there are any psychological changes."

"That's the idea ma'am, and that's why you have to stay in quarantine for the next few hours," Syvar replied neutrally.

Lilura looked over to Amelia to wink at her, then looked back out to the Doctor. "Now, how about some refreshments as we are going to be stuck here for a while? I am getting hungry. That couch does not look that tasty, and I think the XO considers herself not food as well, thanks."

"After we've run initial tests, then I'll have a nurse transport some refreshments into decon."

Amelia rolled her eyes. “Just great. Now i’m being lined up as a hot lunch. I should warn you....” Amelia added “I’m rather high in cholesterol.”

Lilura smiled sweetly, "Which has no bearing on the cholesterol of the recipient.... Cholesterol isn't absorbed from food, it's made from sugars and simple carbohydrates... but, it does mean you're an apex predator and shouldn't really be consumed, you would taste 'bad'." Lilura laughed, then reached into her duty sashe and brought out three decks of cards. "Here we go, cards. When waiting for low level diagnostics to finish, well, I found card games are best with other crew. Rummy, double solitaire, Hearts, Spades, other?"

Amelia raised an eyebrow "How about poker?" she asked with a smile.

Lilura snorted in laughter, "Sure, a few friendly games aught to be fun. I quit playing with others because as an engineer and computer programmer, I tended to always keep track of cards in my head for what is played and not, and that many people consider cheating. So, two decks to help with that and make it fun. So, what type of poker game?"

Amelia shuffled the cards with a skilled hand. “Texas Hold’em. And it’s not just about keeping track of the cards. The strength of each hand will dictate how much you’re willing to bet.” Amelia then delt two cards to both of them and another three cards for the ‘flop’. She raised her own cards at one corner to steal a glance then, with her face betraying nothing. “Let’s start with fifty.”
