"Ive just found out I have a sister," Eddie offered. "Never met her. Same age as me. Dads trying to organise getting her and her mother on Starbase 308. They are not very safe where they currently are."

Now the continuation ….

"Ah. Do you want to meet her?" Tia asked. "Are you nervous?" She turned in the chair and looked at him, resting her chin on the palm of her hand as her elbow was propped up on her thigh. "You have a very complicated family," she commented. "I was really surprised to see how friendly your mom was to me though."

"Oh yeah of course I'd like to meet her. Nervous, I don't think so. Mum and dad did try for another child. For years, mum says. Then when Dad found out about my sister, it was one of the things that broke the camels back between them so to speak. Mums obsessed with my place in "society", she saw my sister who no ones ever even met as a threat against me. That she might try "upsurp" if thats the right word, my position in the family. Yeah like you said my family is stupid complicated," Eddie agreed with her assessment. "And sometimes just stupid …." he muttered.

"You got mum on a good day I think. She keeps asking when your coming for tea,"

"Made me feel so much better about things, no matter what happens. At least she didn't seem to hate me for something that wasn't my fault, " Tia said continuing her train of thought. "Anyway, I've selected a movie for our first . . . uh movie theatre experience." She hesitated to call it a date.

"So what are we watching then?" Eddie asked.

"It's called the Princess Bride? Ever heard of it. My dad says that I'll like it and he thinks you will too. He did warn me there was some kissing, but we can just look away when that happens right? You know, not that I care about such things and I'm sure you don't either." Tia rambled on for a bit.

“No not at all. I’ve kissed a girl. It wasn’t all that it’s cracked up to be,” Eddie said honestly. “Although dad and True spend a lot of time kissing,” he muttered.

"Who did you kiss?" Tia asked. She put her hands on her hips and her eyes narrowed at him. She didn't know why she cared, but she did.

“You don’t know her. She’s not even on the ship,” Eddie spluttered sensing a sudden change in her emotions. He rapidly tried to make sense of them, trying to identify.

Tia blinked at him. "But you're only thirteen. Isn't that a little young to have kissed someone?" She was conflicted, it was someone he had known before he met her and she wasn't even sure why she was getting jealous. She just thought that they could be kids right now and grow into that stuff but Eddie seemed to be way ahead of her. She was afraid she might loose him if she didn't go along with it.

“Look I don’t know why your so upset. It just kinda happened. I liked her, she liked me. We kissed. I didn’t plan on it. The fact I was 13 didn’t exactly factor into my head.

If I was back on Betazed my grandmother was plotting on bonding me for marriage. That’s something they do there,” he said starting to feel like he was being cross examined and just wanted to get out of there now. He’d done a nice thing, something she had wanted and now she was just all weird at him again.

Something had settled into the pit of her stomach though and just wouldn't let go. She knew she was being ridiculous but somehow it still hurt. "Okay," she said quietly, turning her head away from him so she could just breathe and try to calm herself down.

“Are you sure you want to watch a movie with kissing in when you seem to be quite upset about ... well the Idea of kissing?” He asked concerned.

"Yes, I still want to see the movie." She wasn't sure she wanted to see it with Eddie but she had invited him, the entire thing had been her idea to begin with. "Tomorrow night, 20:00 hours. Holodeck 2."

“Sure,” Eddie muttered curtly, “well I’m going to have to go. Meditation.... dads teaching me ...” she didn’t sound or sense very genuine right now. “Bye Tia.”

He decided to make a run for it.

Tia glanced his direction but he was gone. She was left in their illegal secret spot fighting back tears in her eyes.
