ON:

“Ermmmm will your parents be in?” Eddie asked. He was feeling very nervous about the idea of that all of a sudden.

"Maybe by now, but they had a little get together with some friends and I said i would go to True's birthday party with you. Why?" Tia stopped walking and looked at him. "They're nice, they're not going to chase you out silly."

“No not that just you know .....” Eddie felt silly. “Parents. I mean they might take things the wrong way .... assumptions......” he didn’t need his empathetic senses to know he was making an idiot of himself.

Tia looked at him completely clueless. "Why would they do that?" She continued walking and led Eddie right to the door of her parents quarters. It opened for her and she beckoned him to follow. "No one home I don't think. I'll show you my room. Ive been trying to decide how to decorate it. After that we can look up how to take care of a lizard."

"Your room right," Eddie swallowed. He walked in somewhat dazed.

The quarters looked similar to his dads and mums. About the same size as his mums to be honest. Different trinkets. Her room looked about his in both parents size. "I have two rooms. One with each parent," he shrugged.

"Oh right, your parents are divorced. I'm sorry. My parents argue sometimes, I hate it. Sit," she said patting the bed next to her. She picked up a PADD from her bedside table and tapped it a few times until she found the file that she wanted. "See?" She held it out to Eddie. "I was ten. I'm twelve now. " The image showed a little bit younger Tia, still the same green eyes and long reddish brown hair only a bit shorter. "The Gorn's name was Xelen. She was nice enough to pose, she said she had a daughter about my age."

"Don't apologise. Its better off they ended it. They were getting pretty toxic for each other and anyway now dads happy and hes found True," Eddie said simply. "Mum just needs to move on and get out of her angry and selfish phase."

He sat down. So this was the first time he ended up in a girls room. He might have been excited is he wasn't now thinking of his parents falling out of love and the fact they were looking at giant ugly lizards.

He didn't look that impressed. Tia was confused. She thought he would be happy to see the image but he suddenly seemed kind of down. He'd told her not to apologize for mentioning his parents divorce but apparently it was still on his mind. She sighed. "Do you want to look up dragon lizards now or?"

"Or ….." Eddie repeated. All he could think about right now was ice cream. "Yeah dragon lizards," he smiled looking at her reddish brown hair trying not to think about Tellurite cinnamon ice cream. "What do you need? Like a tank do you think?"

"I'm not sure. I suppose. To keep him warm? A warming lamp, a log." Tia had the strangest sensation creeping through her but somehow she couldn't focus her mind on it. "Do you want to get some ice cream first? Come on," She coaxed as she took the PADD from him and grabbed his hand once more. Tia led him to the replicator and then sat down on the computer station.

"Ermmm okay," Eddie said completely caught off guard to being dragged up and suddenly getting ice cream. He had just been thinking about that hadn't he? "Tellurite Cinnamon ice cream," he said looking at his hand now empty. She had held his hand again. Did she like him? This was so confusing. He wanted her to like him though.

"Would you like some?" he asked.

She pondered the question for a moment. She still felt strange but couldn't identify what exactly was wrong. Would eating something help? "Sure, I guess. Thanks. I don't think I've ever had it. Well I've had ice cream, at least the Earth version."

"Its good," Eddie said. "Food of the gods or goddesses if your part betazoid," he offered a small grin. He replicated another bowl and spoon and took it to her.

"Thank you. I'm not, part Betazoid I mean. Mostly human, I think mom has a relative that's another species but I can't remember the name. Started with a K. Anyway . . . " She took the bowl from him and tried a bite. It was creamy, sweet and smooth and much like any other ice cream she had ever tried. She sighed a bit and leaned back on the sofa.

"Yeah now you mention it you don't fully sense the same … all human …. I'm ermmmm new at it. Still working that stuff all out," he mumbled. He leaned back with her. "That doesn't freak you out does it? Dad says other species tend to get wigged out at our …. species stuff. Although I'm only one quarter. I'm mostly human like you."

"No, True told me you might pick up my feelings sometimes. I don't care. It's not like you can take control of my mind or tell me what I'm supposed to be feeling. It might make things easier," Tia suddenly grinned. "You'll know I'm mad at you, just not why."

"I thought that was supposed to be a given with guys and girls," Eddie said innocently. He stuffed a spoonful of ice cream in his mouth not sure if he should have said that.

Tia giggled. "Yes, that does seem to be true doesn't it?" She practically rolled her eyes at him. "What do we know about it, we're kids still. Plenty of time to figure things out I guess."

Eddie shrugged. She could speak for herself there. He certainly didn’t think of himself as a kid anymore.

“Where do you want next for your tour?” He asked changing the subject.

Tia looked at him curiously. "Did I say something wrong? I'm . . . . not sure. I feel a little weird honestly. I thought maybe something to eat would help but it doesn't seem to be."

"Its just I'm not a kid any more. On Betaziod when your abilities start to manifest, you are becoming an adult. I'm becoming a man," Eddie said frankly. "Are you ill? Do we need to go to sickbay?"

"I'm sorry," Tia said honestly. "I didn't mean to offend. Yeah, maybe I should go there. But I can walk myself if you don't want to come. I know the way."

"No …" Eddie said suddenly. "I mean I should escort you. I am taking you on a tour and …. its the gentlemanly thing to do .. my dad would be saying you know …. and what kind of a person does it make me not making sure that your okay?"

Tia looked at him with a somewhat amused expression but decided to keep her mouth shut about it. "Sure, you can come. I just thought . . . if you didn't want to it was okay too." She stood up and instantly felt dizzy, she reached out and caught herself with the wall. "I guess we better go."

Eddie found himself reaching out and steadying her. Concerned he said, "Yes I think we better go right now."
