ON:

Lilura approached Room 1631 with a hope that Dr. Talios was in. She was wanting to improve her holodeck adventure, but was unsure if the doc would have time to work on a personal project. After all, what she was working on was for personal time for her and crew, nothing life or death, nothing of immediate need, just a personal project.

She came up to the door to sickbay and straightened her uniform. With two synced in padds in hand, she walked in and looked around. She sighed in relief as she saw that sickbay was not busy, for a change. She came up to the reception/triage desk and asked the duty nurse on station, "Excuse me, Sir, is Dr. Talios in? I have a ... personal request and favor if he has the time."

"Sure, he's in the medical lab back there," the nurse said, gesturing with her thumb over her shoulder to the closed door just on the other side of the private examination rooms. "Feel free to head back."

It turned out to be unnecessary, however. Before Lilura could move the door opened and Talios stepped out, his eyes riveted to a padd in his hands. "Nurse Gi'Yal, please tell Chief Samuels we have his lab results back. He can come in at his earliest convenience."

"Yes, doctor. By the way you have a visitor."

Talios looked up. "Oh? What can I do for you, Lieutenant?"

Now seeing Talios up close and not in duty, Lilura could see his UV lines across his skin as well as his lovely nervature bihndu signature of his antennas and brain. She said a silent, "wow", and then recovered herself.

Lilura closed her eyes and performed a light bow of respect as she responded, "Good Evening, Dr. Talios." She came up out of her bow and said, "I've been working in my off duty time on a holodeck adventure to simulate a learning Trek for 6 year old Solidarians, so it's not an emergency or patient or anything like that. However, I am having trouble getting a sense of danger into the adventure. Soooo, I was wondering if you had some personal time to help me with it. I have some ideas, but I want to make sure I don't harm any crew going through the trek either."

"A learning trek?" Talios asked, his antennas perking up in curiosity. " Sounds intriguing. I'm happy to help, but do the computer's safety protocols not suffice for what you need?"

Lilura shrugged, "Well, the safety protocols are more for physicality of locations, not biological hazards of a location. My homeworld is a dangerous place, full of diversified dangers, hence why I have a venomous bite when warranted, markings on my body to show I'm dangerous, and an immune system that is very good stopping infections. The trek I am making is for young students to go on to learn about the dangers that are out there, and suffice to say, interactive forcefields don't portray that very well. So, I was thinking about adding some causatives to the misting sprays for scents and wetness, something to denote the danger without causing danger. Such as something to 'burn' on contact, to 'acid erode' on contact, to desensitize on contact, and even cause drowsiness of possible. Several vines, leaves, and animals have burning agents, acid, anesthetizing, paralysis, and sleep causing effects. I want to mimic this so people get a feel how dangerous it is, without being in danger, of course. I'm not a doctor to know what could be used, and.. well, you are. Would you be able to help me with this challenge?"

Talios thought for a moment, scratching his cheek absentmindedly. "There are medical training programs that we use for similar purposes. I suppose we could modify them to your needs. How does that sound?"

Lilura's face beamed with rising happiness. She would have hugged the doctor if she knew him better. Her voice rising a notch, she exclaimed, "That sounds Marvelous, absolutely marvelous. I didn't know, or think through, that there would be programs for medical personnel to experience various causative agents and their effects without being in actual danger. Thank you so much for this. And, once we get this done, I think that it could be core program for creating various planets environments for away teams to experience and watch out for before actually going onto a known hostile planet. What do you think?"

Talios smiled in return. "It would be very useful! It would certainly enhance emergency medical training for everyone aboard. How soon do you want to start?"

Lilura gurgled in her chest, a sign of laughing and contentment. She got a thoughtful look on her face as she replied, "Well, I want to jump in now. I love doing this kind of 'play' off duty. However, I'm not the very busy one taking care of the ships crew and cajoling officers to come in for checkups. What does your schedule look like? I can shift mine to match your free times. Also, my sleep cycle is smaller than Terrans, so i do have more awake time than is usually thought of."

Talios checked the chronometer. "I'm off in half an hour, actually. I mean, I'll still be on call in case some emergency comes up, but otherwise I'm free for the evening. Acceptable?"

Lilura nodded graciously, "Yes, that would be very acceptable. Meet at a Holodeck? Or in a lab first to see what causatives you use?"

"Holodeck," Talios replied. "All we need is there. See you then?"

"Holodeck, got it. I'll gladly meet you there, Dr. Talios. I'm looking forward to it." Lilura skipped off, happy to find such a willing and knowledgeable person to work with her on her idea. She did really want to create a scenario so people would understand more about her, and why she reacted the way she did when faced with certain scenarios.
