A secret spot

Eddie could not believe how easy it had been to find this place. His dad had been so preoccupied with this new mission and the fact Trues brother had shown up that he had gone for a shower leaving his console open. He had access to the whole ships schematics. Well briefly. He had been quick. In and out but at least he knew what he was looking for. Somewhere quiet, away from any of the main systems.

Tia was going to love this place. Of course he couldn't mention it at school. Not in front of the guys. Well not yet. Maybe he could open it up to more friends in due course …. Maybe Tia had picked on how happy he was with himself though through their weird link he wondered while they had endured the longest lesson on basic stella carteology of all thing. At least that was his mothers forte, so he had help with the homework straight off …..

Anyway he had sent her a quick message to meet him on a specific corridor after 7 when he knew mum was on the gamma shift and he was with Dad that night. Dad was pre-occupied so he had bought it was games night hook when he had telepathically contacted him. Well he had stashed some games up there ...

"Hi," Tia said coming up behind him. She wondered what this was about as it wasn't movie night yet, she'd yet to decide what movie they were watching. "I got your message." She turned her head ever so slightly and looked at him curiously.

“I found us a spot,” Eddie said excitably. “Come on I’ll show you,” he led her to one of the Jeffries tube hatches and opened it keeping watch while he let her through first.

"How did you discover it?" Tia asked, her amusement high as she imagined him climbing all over the ship looking for the perfect place. "Are you sure we're allowed to be in here?" That was something else, she did not want to get into trouble with the adults.

“Allowed, well not technically but no ones using it. We are not going to get caught. And I looked at the ships schematics,” he climbed up a ladder and held his hand down to help pull Tia up.

“Oh come on live a little,” he told her.

Tia stopped walking. She didn't want to get Eddie into trouble and she didn't want to get in trouble either. But she also didn't want to upset Eddie. "I don't know. I mean I know I was the one who wanted a secret place for us to meet. But I don't want to break any rules either."

Eddie felt a wave of disappointment. He had worked hard to find this place and made it nice. Plus he would get in more trouble being the Captains son. “Okay well I’m going to go. If you want to turn back it’s back down there and left.”

"But . . ." Tia said as she watched him leave. "I don't want to upset you." She could feel the wave of emotions that flooded off of him. "I just," she called after him. Finally her feet moved forward to follow him, her bottom lip decidedly stuck out more than usual. "I'm sorry," she sighed.

“You wanted a place, I found one. You don’t even want to see it?” Eddie asked trying to be softer as he could sense she was getting upset.

"I just don't want us to get into trouble." She literally had never been in trouble before, not serious trouble. And this had been her idea so surely she would be in trouble with the Captain when he found out, leading Eddie astray because of this stupid bond. But she followed him still. "You crawled down here before contacting me?" She asked, trying to understand if he had seen this place before or only looked at ship's schematics.

"Twice," Eddie said. "I had to carry a couple of bulky items. Wanted to make it homely." He steered her down a couple more tubes and stepped aside so she could see the hanging hammock chair he had put together and cushions. He had a few non perishable snacks, some PADDs for entertainment officially but he knew he would end up doing homework on them and a picture of a bearded dragon.

"Avatar until we get the real thing," Eddie quipped.

"Awwwww," Tia said stamping her foot. "That's really sweet." It was the most awesome space she'd ever seen and she now felt guilty for not wanting to see it. But why did he have to pick a spot they weren't supposed to be in? "Thanks, I really appreciate this. It was so nice." Tia turned around and planted a kiss on Eddie's cheek.

Eddie flushed red not quite believing what had just happened. He decided not to push his luck. "Well the chairs for you. The cushions I'm going to use on the floor to work on the meditation stuff my dad keeps telling me to do to help with the .. well keeping out everyone's emotions.

Did I tell you True's brother is here. He commands the Europa," he offered.

"No, I didn't know she had a brother." Tia said, sitting down in the chair. Either she hadn't noticed Eddie blush or she was ignoring it. "Sometimes I wish I had a sibling but then I really like my free time so it doesn't bother me that much." When she thought about it she had her parents and she had never been lonely as a child.

"Ive just found out I have a sister," Eddie offered. "Never met her. Same age as me. Dads trying to organise getting her and her mother on Starbase 308. They are not very safe where they currently are."
