"Want to go to the station?" Syvar was just getting dressed as he looked around. "Perhaps..." He hesitated as he looked at Amelia, admiring her as she was sat on the bed. "...perhaps we could finally get married while we are there? Nothing big or fancy, I don't really want to be in the spotlight, I just want it you know, formalized? Before the baby comes?"

Amelia looked at him surprised for a moment. "I always thought the Captain would marry us. I think he might get a bit upset if his first officer is married by someone else." She stood up and came over to him. "I would prefer to be married by Jonathan, we could ask him. I'm sure he wouldn't mind... Unless you mind, do you?"

"No, I don't mind." He didn't take his eyes off of her as she walked up to him. "How is your morning sickness? Has it passed yet?" His hand gently touched her stomach, her skin warm to his touch. "Are you taking the supplements I prescribed?"

She nodded. "It's getting slightly better, not yet and yes. Come on, I suppose we better arrange some rooms on the Starbase before we get the Captain involved." She wrinkled her nose slightly "You know some of those supplements taste like something that crawled out of a hole in the ground."

"Perhaps... but as you are carrying a hybrid baby they are necessary." He gave her an earnest look. "Please take them," he begged of her. "I had hoped to contact my parents and give them the good news but so far I have not been able to reach them. Do you think they may be.... out?" He couldn't recall his parents ever taking a long vacation.

"Don't worry, I'll keep taking them. It's not the worst thing I've ever eaten. As for your parents, I sure they're fine. Speaking of parents, I think we better have a chat with mine don't you think? she asked him a raised eyebrow. She gave him a quick kiss before going over to the computer terminal. The comm-link went black for a moment before her brother appeared on the monitor. "Hey there. It's been a long time. How's my big sis?"

"I'm fine thanks Jo, is Dad about? We'll catch up later."

"Ok, I'll go get him." A few moments later amelia's father appeared on the screen. "Hey there Starbug. We haven't heard from you in a while. What are you up to on that spaceship of yours?"

"Hi Dad, everything is great. In fact, I'd like you to meet someone. This is Syvar"

Her dad raised an eyebrow slightly as he regarded him "Hello there young man. I'm Richard Fox. It's nice to meet you."

Syvar looked like a deer caught in the headlights for a moment as he was suddenly drawn into view. "Uhm... Hi..." he managed, "I'm Syvar..." Was he expected to say anything else? He cast Amelia a questioning look.

"Syvar and I have been together for a while now Dad and he has asked me to marry him and I said yes."

Richard ook the news without batting an eyelid. "Really. You know me and your mother were together years before we got married, are you sure you're not rushing this?"

"Dad, you proposed to mom on your second date!" Amelia replied.

Her father laughed. "Oh yes, so I did." He looked at Syvar. "Well young man, I know better than to argue with my daughter when she has set her heart on something so tell me about yourself."

"Uhm..." Syvar bit his lip in a very Human fashion. "What would you like to know sir?" He didn't really like talking about himself, and he looked to Amelia for help.

Amelia whispered to him "Just tell him about yourself."

"Oh dear..." Syvar shook his head. "I'm not sure where to start sir... I'm just me.. I'm a doctor, and I grew up on Earth. I was adopted when I was a child. I love to get lost in the wilds and uhm... I love your daughter sir, more than anything."

"No need for red alert." He joked, laughing softly. He raised an eyebrow "A Doctor eh?" Robert looked impressed. "Well, I look forward to meeting you in person. You will have to come and visit. I know your mother would also like to meet your new man and give you her blessing. She's just popped out. I'll tell her you called. The dinner rush will be starting soon, I better go." He looked back to Amelia. "You take care and you have to promise to visit soon. Maybe now you can start working on that grandchild your mother keeps going on about." He said with a sly wink.

Despite herself, Amelia turned bright red. "Dad!!!"

He laughed again. " Just kidding! See you soon Starbug. It was nice to meet you Syvar." And with the channel was closed.

She turned to Syvar to gauge his reaction.

Syvar just stared at the blank screen. "Perhaps...you should have told him," he murmured, just turning his head to look at her.

She shook her head. "One bombshell at a time I think. And you're right, it's best to wait." She gave is hand a squeeze. "Sorry, I didn't mean to spring that on you, I just thought you better meet my folks if we're tieing the knot. Come on, the starbase awaits. Shall we?"

Nodding, Syvar gently pulled her along, eager to leave the ship. They had barely left the dock when suddenly he heard his name being called. He tilted his head, not quite sure if he was hearing this right.

"Syvar!"

The Vulcan turned, pulling Amelia around with him, eyes widening in surprise. "Uhmmm," he murmured, "you were saying about bombshells?" He gestured feebly towards the approaching Human couple. "Mom, dad....what are you doing here?"

Amelia looked at Syvar then turned her attention to the newcomers. She held out her hand to his mother first. "Hello. It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Amelia. I've been looking forward to meeting you but I do think you've caught Syvar a bit off guard. He was worried when he couldn't reach you."

"Alice," the woman said, taking the offered hand, "my husband Benjamin." She indicated the male who had accompanied her. She gave her son an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry Syvar, we only meant to surprise you after we tracked down your ship's destination. if I'd known you'd be worried...."

Syvar went to hug his mother. "Don't worry about it, you're here." He hugged his dad in turn.

Benjamin on his part glanced between the two, noticing the glow on his son's companion and the way he hovered about her. "So... I see someone finally hooked my boy in?"

Amelia raised an eyebrow at his choice of words. She subconsciously slipped a hand into Syvars "We've been through some... interesting time together and we've grown closer as a result. You've raised a wonderful, kind and loving son. It's quite a coincidence that you're here." She cast a sideways glance at him "Do you want to tell them or should I?"

Gently squeezing the hand, Syvar smiled. "I shall..."

"Tell us what?" Alice prompted, looking from one to the other.

Syvar hesitated. "We're getting married," he finally said, watching his mother very closely as he drew Amelia closer, circling his arm around her waist. "She's pregnant."

Amelia nodded. "Suprise!" noting that Syvar liked to drop all his bombshells on his parents in one go. "Please say you will come to the wedding. It would be an honour and also nice to have some family present, my folks are rather.... far away to attend."

"And here I thought we had the surprise," Benjamin muttered as he reached out to draw the younger woman into a hug. "We're happy if our boy is happy," he smiled, "you be good to him you hear?"

"Of course we'll attend," Alice smiled, "making an honest woman of you, is he?" She cast Amelia a teasing smile, noticing she made her son blush.

Amelia nodded. "We're just on our way to secure a venue then I have to pick out a dress and ask the captain if he would be good enough to perform the ceremony. Would you help me pick out a dress?" she asked Alice, wanting to include Syvars parents in the whole affair. "I'm sure Syvar and his father have a lot to talk about as well."

"Probably," Alice smiled, "and I'm happy to help you with a dress. I'm happy to see my boy finally happy, he's been lonely for so long... I'm really happy he's found someone. Even if..." She bit her lip. "Things are a little in the wrong order?"

Amelia took a deep breath. She wasn't even going to bring up the encounter with her Mirror universe doppelganger. She smiled at Alice "When you're in Starfleet you learn to roll with the punches." She gave Syvar a parting kiss on the cheek. "We'll catch up with you in an hour for a bite to eat? Should give me and your mother time to bond and pick out a nice dress. You ok with that my dear?"

Smiling, Syvar nodded. "Sure, gives me some time to catch up with dad." He kissed her cheek in turn. "Don't give her the twenty questions mom, alright?"

Alice just grinned the type of 'you should know better' grin, then hooked her arm through Amelia's. "Let's go dear and you can tell me all about how you two met."

Amelia raised an eyebrow. "Well... " She started as the pair wandered off. "You could say that fate brought us together..."
