Mission: Picking up the pieces
674 words - 1.3 OF Standard Post Measure

ON::

As a Security officer on a starship, you have to deal with some odd situations. It isn't always an anomaly or alien presence causing chaos, sometimes its something more basic, like being cooped up far too long within the same walls. As such, there's a level of grace extended to the crew when they go a little off edge. It's not often it happens but it did happen.

"...in the holodeck?" Gwen cocked her brow, "I'd hate to have had to clean that mess up." A wince followed, "Engineering probably had to go in and ensure the grid was alright too. I thought they had protections to avoid things from getting that close."

Sal shrugged, "The guards were off for some reason. Probably a thrill seeker. It happens. Sometimes people forget that the holodeck is a physical room. Things can damage it." He offered her a piece of licorice.

"Eww. No." Gwen pushed his hand playfully away, "Back home only grandparents eat that stuff." She shook her head, "Still can't believe that one. It's been a rough few days for our crew. I think we all are in need of a good shore leave or something. Everyone seems on edge."

Sal shrugged, "It happens. Half the time it's just people wanting to changing things up and have some fun," He popped a piece of licorice in, "You remember the other day when that medical officer started the food fight?"

Gwen held up her hand, "Nope. Don't want to remember that one. I got covered in gravy. Or I think it was gravy," She shivered, "Three sonic showers and I still don't think I got it all out of my hair. That ones already going into my memoir but it's still fresh. No need for a reminder."

"Memoir. hmm. Will I be in there?" Sal nudged her, "What will you say about me?"

"You have bad taste in snacks." She nudged him back and was about to say something else when a flesh colored blur ran past them. The two Security officers stopped in their tracks, turned and took a stunned moment to process.

"Was that?"

"Yep"

"Do we need to run?"

"Nope, you run. I'll do the nerd thing."

Sal took off and Gwen quickly accessed the nearest computer display. The very naked running person wasn't wearing a combadge so they couldn't be halted that way but the computer could find them easily enough. Running on the ship generally didn't go unnoticed, "Computer, isolate the heat signature that just ran down this corridor. Label it 'runner' and pull up its location." It beeped and she could see the marker moving. Sal wasn't far behind but he definitely needed a hand, "Computer, block any of the possible open corridors for the 'runner' with a forcefield. Oh! Also halt the turbolift on that level." It beeped and complied.

Tapping her combadge Gwen contacted Sal, "They should be just up ahead. I can see their marker has stalled."

Sal's marker stopped and she heard a strange noise coming through his combadge. It sounded like singing.

"Sal? You ok?" Gwen asked, "What is that?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you. Looks like someone lost a bet and had to run through the corridor with some kind of a paint on their ass singing … old earth Broadway." He laughed, "Oh man. I'm so glad it's us and nobody else here."

Gwen shook her head, "Never make naked bets. Bad idea." She rolled her eyes, "Lets get them out of the corridor and back to their room for some trousers. I'm sure this one will make a fun story for their friends to tell. Being escorted by security back and all. I'll release the fields."

Tapping the glass she released the security measures, "I'll meet you back at our meetup spot once you get them taken care of." Sal agreed and then closed the connection.

Just another day on a starship. Right?
