ON:

Amelia was stood watching Syvar put the finishing touches on their nursery room. After the incident earlier with her false labour, she had realised there was not much time left.

It had been a slow work for months, but Syvar had insisted on doing it all himself, even to the point of building the crib, or rather cribs. "You shouldn't be in here just yet, the paint fumes aren't good for you," he said as he turned to face her, his entire body one giant colour palette of different paints.

"I'm fine, I'm fine," she reassured him. "Look we're almost finished. I just say you've done a wonderful job. I'm sure she's going to love it. Ohhh" she suddenly winced and put her hand to her back "I will sit down though."

Worry crossed the Vulcan's features as he shot forward like an arrow from a bow. "Are you alright?" he asked worriedly, "and it's almost done, just need to put bedding in the cribs and put up the basin..."

Amelia nodded but allowed him to help her into a nearby chair as she took a deep, slow breath. "She just shifted a bit in there. Don't worry, it's not like it was earlier. Believe me, I'll let you know if I feel anything like that again." She pulled him close and kissed him. "You know, it's just occurred to me, we haven't decided on a name yet."

"Oh trust me, I'll know when you do," Syvar breathed, remembering the severe crampy feeling in his abdomen. "Well.... then we should make a list," he smiled as he sat down across from her. "Why don't you put down a few names, while I get cleaned up?"

"Sounds good my love, Don't take too long," Amelia said as she stood, taking one last satisfied look around the room before heading back into the main living area. She picked up a PADD and a blanket and sat down on the sofa and started inputting a few names off the top of her head that she liked the sound of as she waited for Syvar to join her.

A few minutes later, dressed in simple and comfortable robes, Syvar joined her, making her scoot over a little so he could have her lean back against him. He circled his arms around her and rested his hands on her abdomen. "Oh she's moving towards my hand!" he marvelled as he shifted a little.

Amelia snuggled into his warm inviting body and winced slightly. "You don't have to tell me she's moving. She's sat right on my liver at the moment. I'm looking forward to when she's out of me. Just to warn you, I might get slightly... vocal when she's coming out and I might say some things I don't mean. Just remember I love you, always." she took hold of one of his hands and gently kissed each fingertip.

"Here, have a look at these." She said as she handed him the Padd. "I put Melody on there, I know she'd get a kick out of having our baby named after her."

Syvar scanned the list and added a few options of his own. "I'm not sure I want to name her after anyone," he admitted, "it'll only cause envy if we do." He smiled as he leaned forward a little. "I'll just cover my ears then," he teased her.

Amelia giggled "That's probably a good idea." She took his hand and placed it back on her swollen belly just as the baby inside her moved again. She gasped. "She's running out of room in there," she said with a smile which then faded slightly as she broached a difficult subject. "What... what about our 'other' baby." She asked in a quiet voice. "Do you think Melody will find her and be able to save her?"

"I hope so..." The Vulcan's expression sobered a little. "That child deserves a happy and bright future and I'm afraid that won't be if he or she stays with her. I really do hope that child will be brought safely to us, and we'll raise it as our own." He shook his head, amending himself. "It is our child, as I am the biological father." A sense of shame washed over him as he thought back on how this could've occurred in the first place. "I wish her a happy life, despite all she's done to me," he finally said, tightening his arms around his mate, "but that child belongs with me. With us."

Amelia nodded. "You'll get no argument from me. Do ... Do you think she's beyond saving, that there is no hope for her?" she asked, referring to her mirror counterpart.

"Considering what she did to me, and what pleasure she took in doing it..." Syvar hesitated, shaking his head. "I don't think she can be saved. She takes too much pleasure in hurting others... she doesn't consider anyone but herself. I'm sorry love, but I don't think she can be saved, and I'm not sure I even want to try."

"I understand my love." Amelia replied. She tried not to think about what her mirror counterpart had done to him.
"Our babies will be safe." she reiterated. "She must be getting close, I hope Melody can find her in time." She turned her head to look him in the eyes "You have us to keep you safe. Now and always."

"I will," Syvar promised. "And she's about as far along as you are... you two did conceive just about days apart..." He blushed a little as he thought about that, then shook the thought off. "We'll just raise them as twins, even if they might be born days apart... we'll just say you carried twins." It was an acceptable lie, at least to him.

Amelia nodded, getting comfortable against him. It was an acceptable lie to her aswell.
