ON

It had been several days since Starfleet had shuffled around the personnel on the Andromeda, one person in particular had been dealt something of a rough hand having to take over from his friend and superior officer. C'tora had been her closest friend on the ship as well and she felt at a loss now that he was gone. It felt as if she had lost all of her closest friends on the ship, including Lieutenant Harper.
The doors to sickbay parted at her approach, faced with the Chief Medical Officers office as she entered. He was not in the office she she ventured around the corner and into sickbay true.

"Syvar... are you here?" she asked gentle not seeing anyone in the main sickbay.

Syvar peered around the corner of the office door, waving at the visitor. "In here counselor." Studying her a moment, he gestured for her to come inside, into the privacy the office afforded.

The office was very bare, stripped of the belongings if its prior occupant. The desk showed a holophoto of two identical girls, and a family photo of himself, Amelia and the twins. Other than that the room had no personalisation and seemed very unwelcoming. "What can I do for you?" He asked pleasantly, guessing her visit was hardly a social call.

"I'm actually here to check in on you... We've had a lot of change over the last few days and you more than most with the situation with Amalia" the stark contrast of the rooms state of decor was blunt reminder. C'Tora had always kept the room a sanctuary for his own culture and yet still managed to make it comfortable, even welcoming. Now that it was stripped it felt like a completely different place, cold.

"Oh... Well...." The young Vulcan hesitated as he moved back to sit down behind the desk. "I guess this time I feel more ready to be chief? I have gained more experience as I did have an excellent mentor, well before he chose to leave that is. Or get reassigned, whatever it was." He shrugged, then sighed. "Amelia.. that was difficult. It was very painful to still be able to sense her but not get through to her, and her not recognizing me or our children. it's something I really hope never having to deal with again."

Syvar noticed her glance around and offered a small smile. "I know, it's still bare. I'm thinking of adding some colour to the walls, perhaps some warm terracotta or something. I don't know yet, it feels very cold. I'm sure I can find some way to make it feel welcoming again, but I'm open to suggestions."

"I wouldn't presume to debate you on your feelings. You know your own state far better than I do" a wave a nausea passed over her. It had happened for the last couple of mornings but she paid it no heed. She had once again gone another morning without stopping for any breakfast and put it down to that. She waved away the feeling before returning back to Syvar. "I just know that I lost my closest friends in the recent shake up... As you did I believe. I just wanted to touch base with you, also with how closely we work with one another as well!"

Syvar arched a single eyebrow at her as he sensed the wave of nausea. It was a feeling he recognized only too well. "Close enough to know you're not well," he pointed out, "how long have you been feeling sick?" He moved back to his desk to retrieve his medical tricorder. "And when are you mostly experiencing it?"

"Its been the last couple of mornings and its usually passed by lunchtime. I've skipped breakfast for the last few morning as well so it could just be that!" she said as the Vulcan Chief Medical Officer started to guide her across the sickbay to a vacant bed.
"Honestly Doctor, I'll go an get something to eat and I'm sure it will pass!"

"I doubt that," Syvar answered quietly as he completed his scan then turned the faceplate around for her to see. "You seem to have a parasitic infection counselor," told her, a small smile on his face, "of the nine month variety I fear."

Cassie took in the readings but it took more than a second or so for the true gravity of what he had said to sink in. She and Ollie were barley out of the Church and already the pair would be parents.
Her mouth dropped open in shock.
