ON:

After her visit to sickbay, Amelia was feeling much better. She now headed up to the bridge and proceeded to the ready room. She pressed the chime.

"Come," Jon said loudly. He expected it to be Amelia.

Amelia entered and stopped at the other side of the desk. “Captain......” she started “I wanted to apologize for not being able.... for” she struggled to find the right words. She normally didn’t waste time with regrets but she had been in command of an away mission and she had lost two officers.

“That I wasn’t able to keep tracks on Haulval and Aidan. We’ll get them back, Sir.”

"Yes, you're right we will number one," Jon said. He could sense she was sitting well with recent events. He looked at her and slid over the already replicated cup of coffee. "Look Fox. What happened happened. Move on. Don't torture yourself."

"The perils of being a commanding officer," she said.

"It comes with the pips Fox," Jon said. "And yes we will get them back."

Amelia took the control device from her pocket and placed it on the desk. “These are being used at the Crossroads as slave control. It’s mirror universe technology. I recognised it from a Starfleet security briefing last year. That means someone there has access to the mirror universe. That could pose a serious security risk to the Federation.”

Jon's mouth opened and closed several times. He was not expecting that.

Amelia stifled a grin as she said, "The fish impersonation is truly remarkable sir," as she took a sip of her coffee starting to feel a little better."

"You are starting to feel better aren't you?" Jon stated. "I have some news."

"Go on," Amelia responded.

"Starfleet is sending us a new CMO," Jon said. "I have transferred the coordinates of the system we are going too. They are going to meet us there. She's an Orion doctor. Isn't that weird?" Jon asked. "Considering our Mr. J'Tan was telling us of Orion history out here. And we think we may have an encounter with some Orions?"

"Especially if we're going to find this Don as he appears to have at least one Orion in his service," Amelia said as she took another sip of coffee. "We need to track down the source of this mirror tech as well. Maybe J'Tan knows where it came from. I'll see if he will provide us with that along with the other information he said he had."

"And how are you going to do that?" Jon said biting back a laugh.

"Captain. I think this needs a woman's touch. J'Tan might be more..... persuaded with......" Amelia said with a knowing look.

Jon put his hands up, "Okay yes stop there. I don't want to know, do I? Just be careful Fox. He's still a stranger."

She shot him a wary glance. "I think I can take care of myself Captain, but thank you for your concern. Besides.... This is something I have to do."

Jon suspected there was a price for aiding in getting True and Rose back. "Let me help out there," he said pulling open a drawer on his desk. "Here," he slid a bag over to her. "I won this betting on Lilura lifting more weight than some idiots from another ship at the Starbase. I didn't have any plans for it."

Amelia looked in the bag and let out a whistle of respect. She took out about half the contents and handed it back to Jon. "I appreciate the contribution Sir but I can cove the rest, besides you need something to cover our next poker game."

"Or to potentially pay this Don," he looked at Amelia. "We would be fools to assume they won't want to recoup some or more of what they paid for him."

Amelia conceded the point. “You’re right but first we need to find this Don. I’ll go and see our guest.”
