Amelia entered sickbay and headed straight over to Dr. Syvar. "The Captain had somethings to deal with so I'm going to see him after you get my stomach to stop going to warp speed all the time."
She perched on one of the biobeds. "I was just trying to maintain our cover and I was hungry. No one told me about the parasites! " she went on "J'Tan gave me something but I'm not convinced it got rid of everything in there."
Syvar nodded as he made a few adjustments to the biobed. "Why don't you lie down ma'am and I'll take some scans," he suggested. He picked up his tricorder as he waited for her to lay down. "Do you think it's something you could have known about?" He queried curiously, "and why did you eat something you had no idea of what it was?"
Amelia lay down on the biobed. "I was told it was Kirkoo fat pig and it smelt really good. Why did they call it pig if it was really space weevil?" She looked at him. "Come on doc, I bet you've done something like that before....." her voice trailed off as she realized she was talking to a Vulcan.
"Ah.." The Vulcan hesitated then flashed her a goofy grin. "I wandered into a Romulan camp once while searching for herbs, does that count?" He asked as he studied the readout on his screen. "Uhm.. I think you're right about the cure.. it did kill all the worms but not the spores I'm afraid...and I'm detecting larvae in both your stomach and your intestines..." He looked up from his reading. "There are two options ma'am...we treat this and allow the remains to pass naturally or I perform surgery.."
Amelia regarded him with a curious look. "You ended up in a Romulan Camp gathering herbs? You don't sound like a typical Vulcan..... Wait! Spores?" She did a double-take as she processed what he had said. "And when you say pass, you mean... " She looked down for a moment and gulped before she took a deep breath and said determindly "Surgery! Surgery now! Less talking, more extracting!"
"Pass..." Syvar answered dryly, "with your fecal matter, yes." He smiled at her, his green eyes sparkling. "I never claimed to be a typical Vulcan ma'am." He touched her arm with a gloves hand. "Don't worry, we'll have y patched up in no time, though i do recommend not eating anything alien prior to taking a full scan. Give me a few minutes to prepare and then I'll put you under."
"The sooner you get these things out of me the better Doc and believe me, I'll scan any unknown food next time.." Amelia got comfy on the biobed.
Syvar returned a minute or so later, all scrubbed up. He activated the sterile field and reached for a hypospray. "It won't take long" he promised as he set to work.
When Amelia next woke up, Syvar was leaning over her, gently covering her with blankets. "They are all out," he informed her, "how do you feel?"
Amelia thought for a moment. Her face brightened. "Good, good. Surprisingly good and Ahhhhh..." While she had been talking she had tried to sit a bit too quickly and the muscles in her stomach which, were still tender had not allowed her to move as fast as she had intended.
She sat up a bit slower this time. "Still a bit tender but at least I don't feel like throwing up now. Thanks Doc."
The young doctor smiled encouragingly at her. "That's good to hear. You should rest for a bit and I will give you a prescription for pain relief and further treatment just in case." He gave her a hypospray and two vials, as well as a PADD. "Take this as directed on the PADD," he suggested, "if discomfort persists, do please come back?"
Amelia looked at the PADD before getting down off the biobed. "I will. Thanks again Doc."
Syvar merely inclined his head in acknowledgement, as he watched her go.
