Mission: Mission 3 - Whom gods destroy ...
Location: Amelia Fox's quarters
Timeline: MD 1 1730
1985 words - 4 OF Standard Post Measure

ON:

She walked onto Amelia's quarters and looked around for a moment with a critical eye before nodding to herself. "I always knew I had good taste, even within the boundaries of Starfleet rules and regulations." She uttered the word Starfleet as if it were poisonous.
She went over to Amelia's desk and looked at the terminal. She spoke "Computer. Do you recognize me?"
"Voiceprint analysis complete. Identity confirmed: Lieutenant Commander Amelia Fox."
"Good. Display my personnel file and service record."
While the computer started displaying the information, She went over to the replicator. "Coffee. Black!"
She picked up the cup and took a sip. "Hmmm. Not bad." She sat back down and started reading.

With the information she had recovered from the implant in the Trill and the documents she had purchased on the Andromeda she had a rough idea of the layout of the ship and some of the names of the Starfleet cretins that ran it but some details still eluded her. She needed an informant. Turning her attention back to the monitor, she studied her file closely. “Hmmm played poker... trained in unarmed combat..”. Good for me she muttered to her self.

As she sat studying her records, her commbadge suddenly came to life. "Commander Fox, as per regulations you're required to stop by sickbay," a young sounding voice informed her, "please don't make me send security to make you comply..." The voice sounded a little concerned but betrayed that he really had no intention of sending security.

“Just try it and I’ll break their necks, and yours.” Fox replied under her breath, not realising that the com system picked it up. Then, a little louder she called out “I’m on my way.”

Syvar frowned as his sharp hearing picked up on the muttered words. For now he just put in to an irritation towards the summons and shrugged to himself. "Thank you ma'am," he replied and closed the channel.

She made it to sickbay without much trouble but, when she entered she realised she had no idea who called her or what he looked like. She paused just inside the door and looked around.

A young Vulcan approached her, a gloved hand gently touching her arm. "This way ma'am," he said as gentle green eyes seemed to study her. "I assure you, you'll be out of here in no time. I understand you must be tired after such a long day."

A Vulcan! Damn! She cursed to herself. She hated Vulcans! The arrogance! The logic! Zefram Cochrane knew how to deal with Vulcans. A well-aimed shotgun! Of course in this universe, things had happened very differently. "Let's just get his over with she snapped." She stopped suddenly, realising she might blow her cover. She covered by rubbing her temples "I... Apologise. It has been a long day." Trying to act more Starfleet.

She gestured with her hand "Lead on McDuff!" Most of the literature in this universe she had found to be unreadable. All too happy and sanitized. With the exception of Shakespeare. His works seemed suitably dark in either universe. She followed him into a private room and sat down on a biobed.

"McDuff?" Syvar arched an eyebrow at her. "I'm sorry I don't have a McDuff on staff that I recall." He led her to one of the beds. "Are you experiencing a headache?" He asked as he took note of her rubbing her temples. Flipping open his tricorder, his attention drawn to his readings for a moment. He frowned briefly before looking up. "Have they mistreated you somehow while you were down there?" He asked, his green eyes filled with concern.

Fox sighed. "Vulcans! Always so literal. It's a character from a play by a terran... I mean earth writer called Shakespeare. I'm just a bit tired, as you said it's been a long day. Nothing a good night's rest won't cure. Mistreated me? No, nothing like that happened. Her eyes narrowed, she suddenly seemed more awake and aware. "Why do you ask?"

"I'm reading scar tissue that I can't explain ma'am." Syvar closed his tricorder and reached for a dermal regenerator. "If you take off your shirt, i can treat them," he offered, while making sure the privacy screen was activated. "It'll only take a few minutes."

She studied him a moment. He knows! She thought to herself. I'm going to have to get rid of him. "Is that really necessary? She was looking around the room with her eyes. On the table of instruments, there was also a laser scalpel. Good!

Syvar looked at her with concern. "Necessary...no not really, but why keep scars when we can remove them?" He watched her look around. "Wait here for a moment," he told her as he watched her look around, "I'll get you something to treat them yourself." He pocketed his tricorder and started to back out of the cubicle.

She realised for a Vulcan, he had been showing a great deal of emotion. That could work to her advantage and... Wait! He was trying to leave. No doubt to tell someone about the faux Amelia. She slipped off the biobed and stepped towards him, smiling sweetly. "Please don't go. I'd much rather prefer you did it." Quicky, she removed her top and stood in front of him. Her eyes bore into him, now watching his reactions closely.

"Ah..it's be better if you sat in the bed ma'am," he answered, seeming to flush just a little at her unexpected change of demeanour. "It'll be more comfortable that way." He wondered why she preferred he didn't leave. "I was going to come back though. Still, there are some anomalies on your scan that I'd like to discuss with you, in the office." He picked up the regenerator again. "After I've finished treating you."

Fox watched. Is he blushing? Oh! this is too good! She thought. She battered her eyelids at him and twirled her hair with one hand. "You're too kind. Please be gentle."

"Always ma'am," Syvar smiles as he went to work. As he had promised it only took a few minutes until he told he he was done.

She Replaced her top. "Oh, you were so good. Thank you. Now, you wanted to talk about some things ins your office? Lead the way." She was more convinced than ever that he knew. She rose and followed him to his office. Unseen by Syvar, She quickly and stealthily picked up the laser scalpel and concealed it on her person. The door shut behind them. "Now, what is it wanted to discuss." She made sure she stood very close to him.

Feeling her body warmth through their proximity, Syvar took a small step back, feeling a little flustered. "Uhmm.." he gestured towards a seat then started to walk around the desk. "Oh right... The cause of those scars, they look like the result of torture ma'am, but I have no record of such an incident ever having happened to you. Can you explain how and when you got them?"

"Why do you insist on playing this ridiculous game? When we both know it has moved to the next level." Like a coiled Viper, she reached out and grabbed him by the throat, the Laser scalpel in her other hand. She moved her face mere inches from his. She called out "Computer seal this room." The computer beeped as the door locked. "Now then, I can explain what I'm doing here but your next actions are going to dictate my response. If I don't like what I hear, you not only end your life but the life of your First officer as well. Now tell me is that logical? Now don't insult me by pretending you don't know who I am!"

Syvar froze as he was grabbed, swallowing a few times. "Logic is not something that rules my life, yet it's clear now that you're not our Amelia," he answered slowly. "Where is our Amelia?"

"Amelia Fox is safe for now. How long she stays that way is going to relay somewhat upon you. I'm going to remove the laser scalpel now. Don't try anything stupid."

The young Vulcan nodded, watching her move away the scalpel. He exhaled a breath of relief though he still felt anxious. "What are you doing here," he demanded carefully, "and where is my XO?"

"I expect you want answers and I will provide but not right now. I need to know I can trust you. Later this evening. 2300Hrs, My quarters and will explain everything. I need you to put onto the system that I am Amelia Fox. Remember, her life is now in your hands. Do you agree to my terms?"

Syvar hesitated. "I need the reassurance that she's still alive first," he answered, "and I can't just change a system that already recognizes you." How else could she have sealed the room? "How do I know I can trust you?"

She stood back lightly as she began to speak. "Oh, she's alive. How could I ever bring myself to harm her? She's me. I'm her, well... I am as much Amelia Fox as she is. I'll give you some background. We have the same parents but where I'm from there is no Federation. Terrans are treated like slaves by the Alliance and what I'm doing is to free them all. But, I need her help. And yours." She looked at him, her eyes now fixed on his. "How can you trust me? I Let you live didn't I? The systems on this ship are not just the computer as you well know. I need everyone to believe I'm Amelia Fox and you're going to help me with that. The computer is simple by comparison. It's the people who are much harder to convince. You had your suspicions from just talking to me. I need to convince someone who knows her intimately.

She placed her arms around him and kissed him suddenly. "Perhaps, I'd like you to know me intimately," she whispered in his ear. You'll be responsible for helping a great number of people, and I will be very... very... grateful."

"I meant if i adjust anything in your file, people will know," Syvar answered uncomfortably, pushing her away a little as she kissed him, "I knew, because of the scars and the readings I got. I doubt anyone will scan you without cause, that's not our way. The only one who ever does any scanning of people, is medical. And as long as I don't tell the captain, or anyone else, no-one will be any wiser..."

He felt his cheeks flush in aftermath of the unexpected kiss. "I..." He faltered, trying to regain his bearings. "It's not proper... you're a commander..."

Keeping her arms around him she looked deeply into his eyes. "I'll make an exception in your case. Besides, you got rid of my scars now and were ever so kind to me. Let's just keep this between you and me... For now. As I said, I'll explain everything to you later his evening. I'm trusting you and Amelia is counting on you to keep my secret. You think you can do that?

Syvar hesitated, but only briefly, before nodding. "I can," he said slowly, not quite sure how to keep himself right now. Logically, he would report this conversation but somehow, he felt obligated not to. Yet.

She kissed him passionately again. "2300 hours. Don't be late. She then turned and, putting an extra sway on with her hips, seductively slinked out of sickbay.

Shaking his head, Syvar brought himself back to reality but couldn't help bringing his fingers to his lips, where her kiss still lingered. "So strange," he murmured to himself, as he went back to work.
