Vince wandered off the turbolift, finally finding himself on Deck 1, the place where it all happens, and where he needed to be. First on his list was reporting to the XO, which truthfully, he should have already done so. He was looking at his PADD trying to get a gauge on what the XO might be like from open manifest files, but having no luck really. The files that were there were just basic for his security level, much different than when he acted as a department head on the Silvana. Still, he hoped he could find something.

"Ooof," Vince was jarred from his thoughts as he ran into someone, a woman, and he knocked a PADD from her hands. He looked down to the floor, reaching down to grab the PADD" I am so sorry, I was paying too much attention to my PADD, I really am sorry, please let me help you," Just then he noticed her collar, a Commander, well this was a good start.

Amelia accepted the PADD, as bending down was becoming rather difficult. Truth be told, she had been paying too much attention to her own PADD as well. "It's ok, no harm done. Ensign...." she paused as she studied his face for a moment. "Oh... you're our new helm officer, aren't you? Ensign..."

"Vince Stryfe, Ma'am," Vince gave a nonchalant two finger salute," And yes, I am the new Helm officer. Would I be safe to assume you might be Cmdr Fox? If so, sorry to introduce myself so abruptly."

“That’s correct Ensign.” She replied nodding. “Is there something I can help you with?”

Vince shook his head," Not really, but I thought I was supposed to check in with the appropriate senior staff, so here I am checking in. I was hoping to make a good first impression, but clearly, I messed that up. Hope it doesn't hurt my image too much."

“Well, let’s move on shall we? Welcome aboard Ensign. Have you been allocated your quarters yet?” She asked as she led the way to the conference room just behind the bridge which she knew was empty.

She sat indicating a chair next to her.

"I've already got my quarters, got that assignment almost immediately, kinda surprised," Vince sat in the indicated chair," So far everything has run smoothly, pretty nice way to start on a new ship."

Amelia made a note on her PADD. "I've been looking over your service record, and it's very impressive. You were aboard the Frankfurt. I'm so sorry for what happened, she was a good ship."

Vince paused, remembering the Frankfurt, and the hell that was Halcyon. So many lost, but the few that survived on the planet, most still lost in a way," Yea, it was a good ship, with lots of good people. Still kinda feels like yesterday watching it crash into Halcyon, then the away team having to survive that hell. I learned a lot about myself during that time, that's for sure."

Amelia nodded. "I also had a look at your academy transcript. Scored very highly on flight school, in fact, spent most of your time there in the cockpit. You know, in some ways you remind me of my friend, Melody Jones, she was always pushing the craft faster and faster. I hope you know the difference between warp and impulse.." she added with a wry smile.

Vince just smiled at her comment," Most of the time I have no issue distinguishing between warp and Impulse. As a pilot, you can have way more fun at impulse. "

Amelia nodded. “Very good ensign. Still, you’ll find a galaxy class starship a bit different than a fighter. You’ve been put on beta shift so you’ve got some free time before your first shift starts. Do you have any questions?”

"I don't have any questions actually," Vince started to move from the seat," Also I was a Helmsman for the Presido, Galaxy Class, and I never scratched it. Anything that requires flight, I can handle it."

"Of course, I'll let you get back to your duties. Dismissed."

"Thank you, Commander," He stood up and walked out of the room," Well that went pretty good, guess I know where I'm headed next."
