For the first time in his life, at least to Aidan's recollection if he were to reflect on it later, the Trill Science Chief felt anger. And not just anger but disappointment as well. He paced his office, occasionally glancing up, knowing Sherlock was up there, knowing the blue felt his frustration. "No, don't go anywhere," he told his pet, "don't act on anything you feel."

He knew if he didn't say it, the blue would go chase after the person who caused his frustration and given the captain's warnings about off-limits areas for the creature, he couldn't have that happen. "Stay there," he ordered his best friend, "no matter what." He continued to pace, picking up a PADD on his desk, glancing at it, lowering it, glance at it again before hurling it against the wall with a loud cry of frustration. He grimaced as glass shards came flying back at him.

At a concerned chirp from Sherlock, he simply shook his head before picking up an empty mug. He studied it for a moment, moving it about in the light, watching the reflection of Starfleet's logo embossed on the surface. He gritted his teeth, then with another cry of anger, hurled it towards the door, which just opened...

"Lieutenant," Haulval said in surprise, though even his surprised tone sounded completely subdued and he had barely flinched at all. He glanced down at the floor to see what had hit the wall, then quickly back up to meet Datari's eyes. "If this is a bad time, I can come back later."

Aidan froze, a look of horror in his eyes as he saw the mug shatter just past Haulval's head. The rage quickly subsided, and the normally very quiet Trill sighed. "No, now is as good a time as any lieutenant," he replied slowly, "I assume you are here to discuss your away mission?"

"Indeed. The captain requested your attendance on the mission to the outpost and I needed to make sure you are prepared. We will be under cover, no uniforms and no Starfleet equipment."

Aidan nodded, moving to pick up the pieces of his shattered mug. "So, I assume you will be leading this mission?" He asked as he got back to his feet and placed the shards on his desk. "What equipment can we take? I'd assyne we can't take tricorders and phasers?"

"A phaser and a tricorder would be acceptable, if you are going to keep them out of sight. We know little of the political sentiment or customs on the station. It would be risky to be caught with them," Haulval clarified, after taking a moment to think about the request.

"Right, and how exactly do you expect me to conceal a tricorder? I can take a type I phaser those are easily concealed." Aidan frowned at the Vulcan CIO, clearly still upset about something.
