Mission: Mission 2 - The Agora crossroads
Location: Observation Lounge
Timeline: MD3 15:00
1648 words - 3.3 OF Standard Post Measure

ON:

"Sir, the away team are now in the shuttle bay," an ensign manning comms. informed him.

"Get everybody up to the observation lounge. Lieutenants Graham and Karakalakss with me," he stood up quickly relief flooding into his body and chasing out the nervousness he had been holding on to since they had spoken with the away team.

Lilura replied, "Yes Sir" as she made sure her engineering panel was switched over to monitor mode only.

Graham also stood and followed as a relief officer took his place at the helm.

"Mr Syvar discreetly get as much information as you can on our additional guest," he ordered before the away team made their way up. "And if you need to take anyone to sickbay" .. he indicated the door.

The young Vulcan doctor nodded. "Isn't it unethical to take scans without him knowing? Wouldn't it be more efficient to run him past sickbay and tell him we need to be sure he doesn't carry anything dangerous to us? Just routine?"

"Half the away team got snatched by aliens. I want no surprises. Also he has intel on where the chief of science is being held and by who. If you think he won't be gathering everything he can on us your incredibly trusting doctor," Jon said simply.

"I'm not trusting sir, I just think doing so covertly is wrong. I'd rather be honest with him and not have any backdraft from it later. I'd prefer to see him go through sickbay and we properly scan him."

"Consider it a direct order to safety of the ship," Jon stated firmly. He could see he would need to break in this young ensign a bit. It was his first major position and he was still in the early days of everything being very black and white. Half the time it wasn't.

Amelia entered the observation lounge first, followed by J'Tan and the other members of the away team. The flight back to the Andromeda had been smooth enough but Amelia was still feeling the effects of the parasite ladened food she had eaten, not to mention J'Tan's so-called sure for it. She nodded slightly toards the Captain out of respect before gesturing to J'Tan. "Captain, may I introduce J'Tan. J'Tan, this is Captain Reynolds."

"Mr. J'Tan," Jon said neutrally at the purple alien. He extended his hand, "Welcome aboard and thank you for what you did getting my crew members back."

The purple alien nodded looking around curiously. This technology was certainly different from what he was used too. "Captain. Your XO," he said looking at her to check he had got that term correct in his head, "Said you needed to know which direction to go." He slid over a device. "She also said this is similar to your PADDs and you might be able to synch it. The systems in there I just don't know which planet"

Jon caught the device and slid it immediately to Lilura. "Is that possible Lieutenant?" he asked.

Lilura reached out and took the device. She played with a few controls, then pulled back her left arm coverlet to access her crystalline technology wrist computer. Colors scintillated across its surface as she danced her fingers across its surface and a 3D hologram appeared of the device in question. She grinned, "Yes Sir, it is possible. This is Orion tech with a Lyran Key sequencer. I can whip up a translate table and have the data shorly. Give me about fifteen minutes, sir." The holographic display disappeared while Lilura moved the coverlet back into place. Putting the device aside, she took out a starfleet Padd, and her mini-kit, opened up the padd and began working with a small section of its internals.

As the Captain spoke, Amelia made a beeline for Doctor Syvar and whispered quietly. "I'd appreciate a quick scan when you have a moment. Some local cuisine had some..... unexpected stowaways in and I'm not feeling 100% at the moment."

His tricorder open to take scans of the new alien as he was ordered to do, Syvar shifted his attention to the XO. A look of concern crossed his handsome features as he studied her a moment. "Of course ma'am, if you stop by sickbay after this briefing, we'll take some scans. To uphold your privacy I'd rather not do it here ma'am."

Amelia nodded. “OK, I’ve got something I need to show to the Captain but after that, I’ll be right down to sickbay.”

"That's not Orion," J'Tan informed the dinosaur looking alien. "The Orions stole it off one of our Dons about 30 years ago. Scavengers. Sent in hordes of their females who manipulated the main power players at the crossroads. They even set up and established the slave trades you witnesses. Obviously when we overthrew them and kicked their sorry green arses out the Dons then took over and made it even worse opening up other markets but I digress. However if you can synch my device with yours and get what you are looking for please do," he shrugged.

Jon could sense some anger and disgust off the alien as he spoke about the marketplaces history and the Orion's.

"Tell me Mr J'Tan where did the Orions who came to your station leave to go too?" he asked.

"Wanderers now. Ghost ships. They act like sirens drawing people in. Pretend technological emergencies. If you keep traveling down our end of the path you will run into them," the purple alien stated.

Jon looked at Lilura and Graham. "I think we possibly already did," he commented.

Graham said nothing but nodded in agreement.

Lilura spoke up in vetting about the 'Orion' tech. "Yes, Orions are like Gypsies, and have an uncanny ability to understand existing tech and make it work with each other. Make it better? No. Create new? Probably not really. Steal from others, and then in new sectors, pass it off as their own, yes. So, as this tech has been encountered from Orions in the Alpha sector, it was labeled Orion tech until found out otherwise. If you would tell us the Racial name of who created it, we will update our database."

"I'm not sure our name will match anything you know," J'Tan said. "Interesting you have had dealings with them too. We didn't know they were that far out."

"Tell me what you can about this Don who "bought" Aidan," Jon asked looking in the away team and J'Tan's direction.

"He is very secretive compared to the rest. You never see his face," J'Tan shrugged.

“He did have an Orion slave girl working for him.” Amelia mentioned.

"I never expected Orions to be so far out in the Beta Quadrant. This is also interesting," Jon mused. It was almost like the goddesses were sending connections.

Lilura piped up, "I would. They are anywhere where tech and profits are to be found. While there are honorable ones, those are far and few between. And, that should do it."

J'Tan's padd lit up with some telltales while the Federation Padd did the same. Lilura initiated the transfer as she reassembled the Federation Padd. "They are talking and the data is being transferred now." She grinned and continued, "Thank you for letting me take a close look at your Padd, J'Tan, it helped immensely."

The purple alien didn't say anything more just giving a slight nod.

“Lieutenant, I’d like to analyse the files before we transfer them into the ship’s computer” Rose said to Lilura, “just to be safe”

Amelia motion to Jon that she had more to tell him.

Jon clocked it but he needed to speak to someone else first. "Get fully checked out by sickbay Number one and catch up with me afterward. Sounds like you had an interesting eating experience," he quipped thinking back to her message while they were on route back.

Amelia replied “Aye Sir.”

The two padd's beeped in unison. Lilura touched the Fed Pad, then smiled. "I have the data. Thank you." She slid J'Tan's Padd back over to him.

The purple alien picked his equipment back up.

"Good work Lieutenant," Jon nodded to Lilura. "Lieutenant Graham get a course laid into that system warp 7 as soon we are back on the bridge."

"Aye, Captain," the helmsman replied.

"Lieutenant Belikov can you organise Mr J'Tan some guest quarters and give him a little tour round the ship - the lounge, holodec if he wishes some entertainment while we travel to this system," Jon ordered. He knew she would be keen to be reunited with her baby so was happy if she delegated.

"If you would like to get settled in, I would like to speak with you further Mr J'Tan. Number one set up some time in the morning. Allow you both to get some rest," Jon added.

“If you would come with me, I’ll take you to guest quarters. A member of my staff will come by soon to see to your wishes” Rose said to J’Tan. Jon was right, she was eager to get back to Ziva and the last thing she wanted to do was show this man she didn’t trust around the ship. As far as she was concerned, he should be confined to quarters, but the CO wanted his help so she had to use her diplomacy training.
