ON:

After being released from quarantine and managing to escape being eaten by the chief engineer, Amelia was able to get a few hours sleep before reporting to Jon in the morning.

Stepping off the turbolift, she crossed over to the readyroom and pressed the chime.

"Come," Jon said looking up from his desk.

Entering she walked in and swung her leg over the back of one of the chairs in a well practiced ‘Riker manoeuvre’ and sat down. “Morning Captain.”

"Fox, morning. So the good doc let you free then?" he chuckled.

“Yes after we were poked, prodded and analysed for the best part of the night. The joys of Starfleet. I’m sure I didn’t see that in any recruitment poster.” She added wryly.

"So thoughts on yesterday then?" he asked.

“Well.....” she started “To say it could have gone better would be an understatement. We ended up destroying an alien relic that was thousands of years old that was placed there to warn people about a race of dark destroyers. It’s not really going to be a high point on our resumes. Then again, It was causing the crew to freak out and attack things that weren’t really there so....... Mistakes on both sides.... coffee?”

"Sure," Jon said. "Is that what we are going to put in the official report? Mistakes on both sides?"

Amelia managed to smile “I’m sure you’ll word it with your usual eloquence, besides I haven’t had much sleep...... Hence the need for some coffee. Some very Strong Coffee!”

Jon ordered her usual and placed in front of her. "We got plenty of footage and a sample at least. There looked to be more of the language in that alien database on the outsides of the monolith. Aiden's team will be on it. Although I sent him to bed."

Amelia stifled a yawn at this point before taking along sip from the cup Jon handed her. “Ahhh, much better. So sample? Check. Creepy visions have stopped? Check. Did we accidentally destroy a ancient alien relic? Unfortunately also check. So what now? We’re waving for our science officer to analyse the sample. In the mean time, I think we should be continuing with our mission. The communications relay? Then, after deployment we can investigate this trading outpost that we’ve being invited to.”

She took another gulp of coffee. “You think the Doc could put this into a hypospray for direct delivery into the blood stream.” She mused as she looked at the cup.

"Thats the plan," Jon nodded. "Recon the doc might have concerns about the caffeine shot idea though. So Aiden, I want you to keep an eye on him. He seems reluctant to delegate and compromised his health working flat out on the data from the moon computer download. Plus hes not coping well with the tiredness and lashing out in places which I'm not willing to keep having to facilitate. I had to order him to go sleep and tell his wife to make sure he ate something."

As she yawned again, he added "Perhaps he's not the only one I need to order to go get some sleep. Take a few hours number one."

Amelia was about to protest but then thought better of it. “If you say so Captain. I’ll get a few more hours and then see you one the bridge. Is there anything else?”

"Yes," Jon said suddenly as he got a message through from HQ. "It seems there's a shuttle on route, was sent with our new CMO as soon as I reported her coma from the Starbase. They are going to meet us, take Hope back to 308's medical facility."

Amelia nodded "Let's hope the starbase facilities can do something for her. I'll see to her quarters and make the necessary preparations to welcome her onboard."

Amelia stood and with a slight incline of her head to acknowledge the Captain, she turned and headed back to her quarters and the bed that was waiting there.
