ON:

Lilura came up to the runabout to be used. She snorted out in humor at seeing a starfleet small vessel and not a civilian transport. The StarFleet was faster, smaller, with weapons. A Civilian private transport had less energy, less speed, and no ship to ship weapons. Anti-personal was fine, but no ship. Also, Civilian were always larger as they were two tech levels behind starfleet. So, the runabout had to have exterior additives that were streamlined for atmospheric flight, along with wings and cargo pod attachments for those wings. And, given the area they were in, a 'darker' transport theme for the privateer 'specialty' product runnings. She waited on the other two to join her to discuss plans to turn the pristine Starfleet Runabout into a down trodden privateer shuttle.

Not quite sure how to help as he was no engineering, Aidan wondered how he could be useful. "What do you need from me?" He asked as he approached.

"Don't mind me," Jon said walking in. "I'm just being nosey seeing how your planning on doing this." He took in the runabout. "We will be able to convert it back again right?" It might be a while before they headed back to Starbase 308 so they had limited materials. That needed to be in consideration.

Lilura gurgled in her humor laugh. "Of course, Captain, we couldn't have it any other way. What I was thinking of was Ablative Armor sculpted into a Privateer ship. Remember, Civilian craft have a singular additive element on a specific model Privateer model. But, I am from another star empire. Our concepts of craft are differing from the Federations concept of craft. I need Lt. Datari's input on what he would think would be a cool, unique, atmospheric craft that fits with a unique concept. Then, I would need Lt. Graham's input on what he would expect a craft to handle with that concept. I can almost create anything, but I need information on what would be the craft overall concept and shape to pull it off."

"Flight characteristics shouldn't be too hard," Mitchell said, having heard most of what Lilura just said. The doors closed behind him. He gave the runabout a satisfied nod and added, "I mean, she's already a flying brick. The engines and retro-grav generators can keep her aloft in just about any kind of atmospheric conditions. The fun part will be masking any signatures that peg her as a Federation-manufactured vessel. Engines, electronic emissions like the types of comms we're using..." He trailed off. Everyone understood. "Like you said, let's just make it cool."

"Well not too cool. I mean its got to look like its taken in some miles, worked in," Jon commented. "To fit whatever backstory Lieutenant Haulval has cooked up."

"We could have a go at the hull with a few heavy objects...sledgehammers for example," Aidan suggested with a shrug, "make it look like it's been in a few scuffles or rough landings?"

"Maybe also a couple of scorch marks with phasers set to low yield," Mitchell added.

"Now that sounds more realistic," Jon agreed. He wasn't used to suggesting they rough up federation property but if they were going to be believable they couldn't rock up in a pristine runabout.

Lilura gurgled in humor, "Well, sledgehammers won't really do much to the metal. However, if we create lighter material replicas, do the sledgehammer, then rescan and create the proper material hull pieces... viola, realistic damaged ship pieces that would pass inspection, including stress stretches and microtares. We then attach those pieces to the existing hull using adhesive mixed with c-34t particles. Now you have your privateer small craft... and if you need a quick disguise change.. well, c-34t will only ignite with the frequency used to mix it... so, frequency coat the hull in a low level electrical charge, and the disguise parts come off and you're back to being a Fed runabout. How's that for thinking devious?"

Jon nodded. He didn't really know what to say as he had no clue what C-34t was but he was following that they could easily switch back to being a federation vessel if needed. Good if they needed to fool someone. "Make it happen Lieutenant," he smiled.

Lilura smiled and curtsied to Jon, "Oh, gladly Sir, Gladly." She turned to Aidan and said, "I'll be right back. I will get engineering crew busy on the adhesive. After that, we can go to a holodeck to start creating designs to glue onto the runabout to see what you think looks like a 'scallywag privateer with a flourish." She chuckled as she went off to engineering to round up some on diagnostics engineers to start working on fabricating the adhesive with the specialty explosive mixed in. As particles, it would scratch the adhered pieces or the hull, but would shatter the bond between the adhesive and the pieces.

"Creative on designs?" The Trill frowned, looking sideways at Graham. "You're the pilot, surely you want a say? I'm not one for fashion... If it works, it works, let's not overdo it?"

Graham offered a reassuring nod. "I think we're all on the same page as far as creative vision goes. Lilura seems to have the fine details already figured out in her head, so let's just follow her lead."

Jon leaned in to both men confused, "Anyone any idea why Lieutenant Karakalakss just curtsied to me? Is it a cultural thing?"

Graham shrugged. "I'm not sure, sir. Never been to her planet. Maybe next time we should all curtsy back."

Jon shook his head, "Nope a simple yes sir will suffice."
