ON:

As Amelia left, Jon braced himself for who he knew was going to appear next. He ordered some fresh tea and wondered would it be True or Hawkins.

True touched the chime on his door and knew that he'd know she was there and probably what she was feeling but the conversation needed to be had anyway.

"I'll assume since you opened the door that you have a minute to chat? I know you don't want to talk about it and ultimately you are the Captain of this vessel and it will be your choice, but I want to ask you why you want to go down on the planet?"

"You might not like the answer but its just my guts telling me I need to be on this one," Jon said indicating her to come in. "But don't worry I won't do anything stupid. Secondary, I'll be honest I don't like the idea of putting my pregnant, recently married XO into the fray without checking out the lay of the land first. But mostly its just intuition. I don't ignore my gut."

"I thought that might have something to do with it. Amelia, not your gut." True clarified. She bit her lip wondering if she should continue with that train of thought or just let it go. Ultimately she didn't see him changing her mind so she let out a small breath and decided to drop it. "It's your turn to get kidnapped," she said jokingly.

"Never going to happen. They would still have to get through Leighton, Hawkins, come on Datari is going to sneak down one of his weapons regardless what I tell him and more importantly you. You won't let them get me," he smiled. "And in your case, your words are mightier than the rest of thems swords and strength when they need to be. I've completely nothing to worry about there."

True sighed. "I still feel guilty for losing your knife. But oh well. I think this subject is going to come up again between us sometime. But for now . . . When do we leave?"

"Why? I got it back. Aidan got given his and mine by J'Tan on shore leave. Don't dwell on that sweetheart. Even if it hadn't of turned up we move forward," he smiled at her.

"We leave as soon as we get to the colony. Obviously we will try speak to them first and see if we can get any information before making the trip down," he answered her other question.

Standing up he walked round to her, took a hand and looked her into those beautiful baby blue eyes he liked to get lost in regularly. "Look I know its duty and your concerned and quite right to raise it, so I promise I will be on my best behaviour down there. No stupid risks."

"I'm not really worried about that," True answered honestly. As long as someone Jon loved wasn't in danger she didn't see him as a risk taker or someone who acted before they thought things through. "I just think you're being a little bit overprotective about certain people."

"Ive lost a baby," Jon said simply. "I just wouldn't wish that on anyone. I just want to assure its safe first and then the XO comes down on the second party." Through there link True could sense some deep seated and locked away pain there.

He had mentioned that Charlotte and him when together had tried for a sibling for Eddie but it had never happened. He hadn't gone into detail of what had happened.

"And I'm very sorry about that." True replied turning her head to look at him. "But that's not really your choice to make. Now if the Doctor says she needs to stay here then she needs to stay here. Otherwise I think that's her choice." True shrugged, which is really getting to the heart of what she wanted to say.

"The XO and I had a discussion and that's what's been decided," Jon said simply. "I get to decide who I take on any away team or chose to lead one. Yes most of the time the XO gets to go lead but its not cast in stone and regulation," Jon said somewhat defensively.

It wasn't like he had grounded Amelia to the ship. She was coming on the second team.

"I'm not saying you can't pick your away team, but . . . . " What was she saying? "Never mind, I said I wasn't going to get into it with you." True got up to leave the ready room.

Jon was on his feet and gently grabbed her hand. "Wait True ... look you do right to raise any concerns. I probably am being overprotective. But its done and decided now.

And you always have to get into whatever needs getting into with me. Your my counsel. I will try to be less protective."

She nodded, kissed his cheek and headed for the exit anyway. Perhaps in the future he would see her side of things.

Jon sighed getting the feeling he had missed something.
