Amelia was drumming her fingers on the arm of the Captain's chair, waiting for Jon to contact them.

"Reynolds to Andromeda."

Amelia perked up at the sound of the Captain's voice. "Andromeda here. Go ahead Captain."

=/\="We have multiple colonists acting like children down here. They don't know how to operate a lot of the equipment anymore. They were hiding playing hide and seek as we arrived. =/\=

=/\=Dr Kuroka cannot find any explanation yet but nothing seems to be affecting us that we can gather."=/\=

It had been several hours so Jon was putting trust in science here and deeming it safe.

=/\="I'm wanting to go see the natives, so let's get the second team down and start moving the supplies while we work on this mystery further. Make sure you bring our diplomat and Lieutenant Lau prepare some sort of ... well something we can present upon meeting them to open dialogue. A gift or something. Liaise with Natasha."=/\=

Amelia frowned. "Acting like children? That's unusual.... to say the least. Very well, I'll get the second landing party in the shuttle and we'll be joining you shortly. Fox out."

She stood from the Captain's chair. "Fox to Blackthorn, meet us in the main shuttle bay. we're going down to the surface. The Captains team need backup. Apparently, some of the colonists are acting like children for some unknown reason. Also, we need some sort of gift for the natives. Can you think of something appropriate and bring it along. we'll be departing in 5 minutes, Fox out. Chang Lau you're with me. Belikov, you have the bridge."

Sat at Ops really did give one the opportunity to observe everything that was going on. Perhaps this really would be the right place for her!

"Aye sir", Xu signalled for the relief Ops Officer who came round from the rear of the bridge and moved over to the First Officer.

Walking down to the Captain's chair, Rose turned to the away team, “Lieutenant, I hope I don’t have to remind you to be careful. We only have so many shuttles”

Just before the turbolift doors closed, Amelia called back "I'll keep that in mind."

Amelia and party entered the shuttlebay and headed for the remaining Runabout.

Natasha soon arrived to meet with the away team. "Reporting in for duty." she said with a smile, arriving with a duffle bag over her shoulder. "Hawkins had given me this, with items that he felt would be useful." indicating what she carried.

"Join the party Commander," Amelia said to the newcomer. "Xu, would you take the helm please?"

"Aye sir" the small Asian women navigated the runabout with ease, the same class having been her usual mode of transport on Cardassia. With a practised hand she brought all systems online and ran through the preflight checklist by the time the others had entered the cockpit.

Amelia took the seat next to the pilot and once everyone was on board, secured the hatch.

"Fox to bridge, this is the Cepheus. We're ready for takeoff."

“You’re clear Cepheus, fly safe and come home” Rose replied, sitting back in the captains chair. She felt a little worried about having to send a second team down, with the transporters out of the options, there wasn’t a fast way to recover either away team if anything went wrong.

The shuttlebay doors opened and the runabout lifted off smoothly and started the journey down to the planet.

The shuttle entered the atmosphere with no difficulty and soon the colony and landing site were visible.

Xu had been on the sensors the entire journey looking for a suitable location to set the runabout down. Thankfully the spot the first runabout had landed was large enough to accommodate a second runabout.

"Starting our descent to the landing zone".

It took only moments to reach the location and Xu gently banked the craft around, angling the bow in the same direction as the first runabout and setting her down with a gentle thud alongside.
With a few commands entered into the pilots console the shuttle powered down and was placed into standby ready for when she would be needed to lift off once more.

The door of the shuttle opened and Amelia stepped out, taking a big breath of the fresh air.

"My, that is a pleasant aroma. Something around here is blooming." she remarked to no one in particular.

"Come on." Amelia sad to the other member of the away team and they headed off to the main complex to find the Captain and the others.

Xu tucked her tricorder into it pouch on her waist and followed the first officers away from the runabout.

Natasha stepped out, taking a look around "Well, we have made it. The place looks lovely."

Amelia took another deep breath and a slight euphoric buzz passed through her, but she shrugged it off. "I agree Commander, It really is quite beautiful here, I can see why the colonist chose this planet. "Now let's see if we can find out what's gone wrong?"

"I'm all for it and also eager to find out what's going on." Natasha remarked.
