ON:

"Come," Jon said to the door glancing at Fox. Both his security chief and intel chief had requested to speak to him about something. "Lieutenants at ease, have a seat," he motioned to chairs. "So what have you got for me?"

"Sir, we've received an encoded transmission message, Lieutenant Haulval believes it could be important" Rose reported.

Amelia took the PADD and looked at it. "It seems we have had an invitation to what looks like a trading outpost. There's cooridinates but no name to who has sent the message. They claim to have information on the Cetea."

Jons eyebrows raised slightly. "Lieutenants, I assume you have weighed up any risks? Was there any information in the transmission itself to indicate if it originated from a specific place in this trading post? We have no clue how big it is and need to narrow it down where to go if we accept this invitation."

Rose looked to Haulval for a moment before returning to Reynolds, "we may have the answer your looking for. The message did have some rather unusual lines, such as 'come to where not even light can escape' and 'time will slow when you are near'. I don't know what to make of these."

"Well it sounds like a description of a black holes activity to me," Amelia said. "But theres nothing in sensor range like that."

"I can't imagine somewhere near a black hole is a good place for a trading post. Maybe thats the clue though we need to keep in mind. They obviously want to talk but if they are not making it that easy to find them, perhaps they don't want someone else knowing they want to talk to us?" Jon suggested.

"I'm afraid such clandestine meetings are not my specialty, I'm more the 'kick in the door' type. Lieutenant Haulval, do you have any contacts that could help?" Rose asked

"There is no charted spacial anomaly in this region of space that would classify as a black hole, sir," Haulval replied factually and folded his hands together. "It is, perhaps, a reference to something on the trading post that would only be evident once on the station." He looked toward Rose and nodded. "Starfleet has very few registered assets in this sector."

"This trading post could certainly be a place to expand your network," Jon said to Haulval. "And for us to learn a little more about whats out there. What threats we might encounter security wise," Jon nodded at Belikov. "I think a visit is next on the list, once we drop this beacon and work out what that object is. I'm going to want you both on that away team."

“You can count me in Commander” Rose replied

"Of course, sir," Haulval answered succinctly.

“Do we have any marines onboard?” Rose asked.

"No we do not and I don't intend to have them," Jon said simply. "Thats what I have security for."

“Captain” Amelia spoke up “I would recommend that the away team beam down in civilian clothes. Will help us blend in better and might yield more information.”

Jon nodded, "A good idea. In fact I think it best as we don't know how friendly they are that the away team take a shuttle and we don't bring the Andromeda anywhere near docking until we know more about the lay of the land."

"I was going to suggest the same," Haulval nodded to the captain's suggestion. "A Galaxy-class starship would undoubtedly garner attention and hightened speculation. We can have the shuttle exterior cosmetically altered and a new transponder installed with minimal effort."

"Sounds a good plan. Liaise with the chief engineer and lets get that in motion both of you," Jon nodded, then added "Dismissed."
