"I can concur," Jon said quietly thinking of his extended now, family and his mother back on Betazed. "So Tia, how are you settling into the ship?" he asked.

And now the conclusion ……..

"Pretty well I guess. There are a lot more people than I'm used to. Counselor Keading says I need to work on my social skills. And I guess Eddie volunteered to show me around the ship sometime." She shrugged and had an unsure look on her face as to whether she was really settling in. "There's been a lot of change," she said as if she'd heard an adult say that.

"Sometime?" Jon looked at his son.

Eddie looked like he was rapidly trying to work out why the "Sometime" hadn't happened yet.

"Yes erm … about that. How does …. Thursday suit. After school of course," he flushed.

"Okay," Tia responded well aware that the adults were both looking at them. "I usually finish my homework in class anyway." She stuffed more scone in her mouth so that no one would have to ask her anymore questions.

Without warning the stuff on the table began to slide in one direction. True tried to grab the table cloth on her end but was only partially successful. She looked down and saw a kitten shaped shadow holding onto the cloth from underneath the table.

Jon started to swear as the dish of clotted cream threw itself in his direction but managed to catch himself. "Erm maybe we need to replicate him a toy or something?

Mind you I recon hes hungry again. Sorry buddy I don't think Kittens can eat this sort of spread," he looked at True questioningly. In the few days Eddie and him had been keeping him they had stuck to the first feline supplement they had found in the replicator.

"Yes, probably hungry. I'm sorry." She said to Jon, biting her lip a little bit and whisking the kitten off toward the replicator where she replicated the thing she thought he'd probably most like to eat from the choices for cat food. Then she put a little bit on her finger so the kitten would lick it off and get a taste for it. "Eddie, would you hand your father a towel or something please?"

"I'll just go change my top," Jon said getting up.

"Eddie you might want to replicate some more clotted cream though?" he suggested as he pulled his top off and headed to his bedroom. He winked at True before disappearing to find something clean.

True blushed and cleared her throat awkwardly. "Alright you," she said picking up the kitten who struggled for a few seconds and seemed to realize it was futile. "We're going to need to have some serious training sessions." She wondered if she should ask Jon if the kitten needed to stay in her quarters.

"He is a wild one, but he's cute." Tia responded.

"Yes, he is both of those things." True said, distracted.

"Do you think we can convince Dad to let me have a pet next True?" Eddie asked watching the kitten as he replicated more cream.

True chuckled. "I don't know Eddie, what sort of pet were you thinking of? He's probably not too keen on kittens now. I still can't believe he got me one for my birthday. I didn't even know he knew when my birthday was."

"True he wasn't going to miss your birthday," he shrugged before looking a little dreamy. "I was thinking a Komono dragon. Then when we play the Guardians of Mortok he could actually be a dragon you know," the young blond said. "Doubt he'd like one of them either. I'd call it spike though ….."

"You could have a conversation about it with him." Amused she added, "Tell him I talked to you about it and see what he does."

"We have already had plenty of conversations," Jon said overhearing from his bedroom door. "Lets see how I get used to this one first and go from there. Plus you need to show me your old enough and responsible enough to have one of those … dragon things Eddie. You have to clean up after pets you know. You rarely clean up anything round here,"

True turned her head to hide a grin.

Eddie pursed his lip. "Adults," he muttered. "Never let us have any fun ehh Tia."

Tia gave him a rare smile though she didn't exactly agree with him. "We could take care of it together? I'm very responsible, my teacher is always telling me so."

"I'm sure you are Tia," Jon said warmly. "But when Eddie shows me hes responsible and grown up enough then I will allow him a pet. However your parents might let you have one and he can visit how's that?"

"I could do some research and ask them," she said glancing at Eddie to see what he would say. Tia wasn't really sure she wanted such a large lizard but maybe something like a bearded dragon and Eddie could help her take care of it too. And there was a chance the bearded dragon would get along with the kitten too and be allowed to play with each other.

"Maybe ….. " Eddie looked sheepish …. "Maybe I could help with the research. You know come over after school another day."

Jon tried not to smile or look at True. Instead he focused on reaching out and stroking the kitten. Who licked him. Jon shuddered slightly at the cold feeling left on his hand as he pulled it away again.

"Sure. I'm sure the computer's got tons of information about what they eat and how to take care of them. We can go over it together." Tia responded, taking her last bite of scone.

True giggled as she watched the kitten lick Jon who seemed to be totally taken aback by the action. "I really need a good name for you, you're hilarious. He kind of reminds me of you actually Jon."

"What? fearless, dashing, handsome," Jon joked.

"Yes, in other words a complete dork."

Tia resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "Happy Birthday True . . . " her words were drowned out by the sound of them kissing again. Tia made a face. She reached for Eddie's hand. "Come on, I think maybe it would be a good time to get started on that tour early." She pulled him from his chair and out the door without another word to the adults.
