Mission: Mission 1 - In the pale moonlight ...
Location: Runabout/Shuttle bay
Timeline: MD2 0300 ship time
1549 words - 3.1 OF Standard Post Measure

ON:

Lt. Agvald Omdahl enjoyed his job, very much. He was a highly trained fighter pilot and helmsman, survivor of several fighter skirmishes, and had people skills. Thus, he was assigned to the StarFleet Pegasus Fast Courier division. The ship he was on was a highly modified and very fast elongated Runabout, and the module inside was for passengers. For this mission, it was singular, as in one Passenger.

He called back to the very pretty blond female officer, "Lt. Belikov, we're nearing where the Andromeda should be intersecting our flight path."

Sitting in the passenger compartment with her baby Zeva, Rose heard the pilot’s announcement and gave a sigh. She’d been looking forward to a new assignment far away from her last one. Making sure Zeva was comfortably asleep, Rose made her way forward to the cockpit, “are they within sensor range?”

Agvald nodded and said, "Yup, they should be coming into range just about now.... ummmm... now.... errrrrr... Now?" He looked confused as the Andromeda wasn't coming on screen. "That's strange... they should be right there..." He points at screen.

Taking the auxiliary console, Rose brought up the sensor display, "reduce speed and focus sensors forward"

Agvald slows the Golgi down to warp 8 from 9.99. He shifts the scans from double forward to 270 degree arc. "Well, they weren't supposed to deviate, and if they did, they would come back to the same heading. My ship is faster, they can't be ahead... maybe.. behind? Anyways, did you want to go back with your kid and get some rest, or stay here and take the co-pilots seat and watch for signs of the Andromeda? As a Galaxy class, her signature should be easy to spot when she comes into range of our sensors."

"I'll stay here, the faster we find the ship the better. Perhaps we should send out a general hail to try and get in contact with them"

Agvald shook his head, "And, no, standing orders are not to use general hails. Those let anybody else around us know we are here. However, once we get any blip of an IFF of a Federation starfleet vessel, we can direct hail them and get more information. So, please, make yourself at home. Snacks and drinks in the cooler beside you."

Rose smiled, “you’re quite well prepared for a pilot” she said, bringing up the internal security camera in the rear section so she could keep an eye on her daughter.

Agvald returned his attention to the Navi computer and stated, "Computer, run simulations on course projections for if Andromeda took a side trip from known course for up to three hours, and then returning to destination course." On the screen, multiple lines of varying colors appeared. A couple where outside their sensor range, but if they traveled fifteen more minutes ahead, all lines were convergent within their sensor field. Agvald pointed to that area and stated, "Okay, Lieutenant, we are heading to this area, that will give us the best chance to be intercepted by the Andromeda."

Rose nodded, “by your leave Lieutenant”

Meanwhile, on the Andromeda Amelia Fox had just returned from the away mission. She walked into her quarters and was about to peel her uniform off and jump into hot bath when the comm beeped.

=/\= Bridge to Lieutenant Fox. Sorry to bother you Sir but we've picked up a Starfleet Runabout on long range sensors. =/\=

Amelia sighed =/\= Yes, we're expecting a new officer. Send them an encoded transmission with our co-ordinates and tell them I'll meet them in the main shuttlebay. How far out are they? =/\=

=/\= About thirty minutes Sir. =/\=

=/\= Copy that, Fox out. =/\=

Amelia then hurriedly started to peel of her uniform. A quick sonic shower was better than nothing.

=Runabout=

Agvald was concentrating on the sensor sweep and piloting to get all the possible routes into said sweep, and so left other monitoring to Rose.

Noticing the incoming signal, Rose brought it up and started to decode, “well it would seem you have found them Lieutenant. Well done” she said, sending the coordinates to his console, “I’ll be in the back preparing my things”

Agvald grinned as he received the coordinates from the missive. He replied, "Thanks for watching for the incoming message. The Andromeda's sensor range is farther than our. I will let you know time as soon as I get everything plotted."

Agvald checked the tracking routes and found it was along of the far tracks they were working towards, but way back from where they should be. He checked their own coordinates, speed, and then created a new course to intercept the Andromeda for where she at currently. He sped the courier runabout up to warp 9.99 and called back to Rose, "Lt, 30 minutes to intercept."

*** Thirty Minutes Later ***

Agvald dropped out of warp to be near the Andromeda. He maneuvered aft and got into position for their tractoring landing system to be activated.

There was a minor bump when the tractor engaged, and then everything went totally smooth. Agvald watched closely as the runabout cleared the bay doors. Now fully committed for the docking, he shut down unnecessary systems and turned to face Rose. "Lt. Belikov, the Andromeda has us. Once we are trundled to the landing berth, the earlier message said the XO will meet you directly."

Stepping back into the cockpit, now carrying her shoulder bag and her daughter, Rose nodded, "understood. thank you" she said, taking the auxiliary seat while the shuttle was guided in.

The Shuttle landed with no issues into the tractor cradle. It then moved on is magnetic tracks to a disembarkation berth to let off passengers and be refueled to leave. Agvald would stay with the runabout, that was his job. The door opened and Agvald stood to escort Rose to the doorway. "Thank you for flying with the Golgi and I, Lt. Belikov."

Stepping up to stand at the threshold of the gangway, Rose took a deep breath, "Thank you Lieutenant, it has been a pleasure. I hope we meet again" she said, before disembarking the runabout onto her new ship, the USS Andromeda.

Amelia walked into the shuttlebay to see a young woman with blond hair walking out of the runabout. She walked over and held out her hand. "Welcome aboard the Andromeda Lieutenant Belikov. I'm Amelia Fox, the XO. I trust we weren't too difficult to find."

Taking the offered hand, Rose smiled as she readjusted her shoulder bag, "Thank you Lieutenant, i'm happy to be here. If I may, is there something happening right now? You weren't at the intercept coordinates"

Amelia turn and gestured to the exit. “I’m afraid we got delayed by a moon that appeared out of nowhere and disappeared just as quickly. We’re now trying to analyse the tricorder data we collected on the surface.” She paused as she caught sight of the young baby she was carrying. “Why hello there. Aren’t you just adorable.”

Rose smiled, "This is my daughter Ziva. my precious little bundle" she said, looking down at her, "so what's next Ma'am. Sounds like the Science staff are going to have their hands full"

As they walked Amelia continued “I’ll show you to your quarters. I bet you’re tired after your long journey.”

"I am a little tired, but I am able to cover my shift if needed" Rose replied, wanting to make a good first impression.

Amelia smiled "I admire your dedication Lieutenant. Lets get you settled in first. May I hold her?"

Rose seemed to recoil a little, shifting Ziva sightly away from Amelia, "no, thank you but she's asleep and I don't want to disturb her" she said with a smile "is there anything else I should be aware of?"

Amelia nodded “Of course, I understand. Another avenue of investigation we're looking into at the moment is a rouge group of Son'a that call themselves The Cetea. They bombed a reception at Starbase and we're trying to get more information on the group and what their end game is." Amelia explained.

"From what I know of the Son'a, it is rather strange for them to commit such a terrorist act against the Federation. most of their people chose to return to the Baku. I wonder what made these people change their minds" Rose speculated.

Amelia shrugged her shoulders “I don’t know. This group didn’t return with the others and their bitterness and hostility seem to have grown.”

They arrived outside Belikov’s quarters. “I believe this is yours. I’ll let you get settled in. No doubt the Captain will want to speak with you about the Son’a problem. As for your Little precious, I believe primary care is located on deck 14. I’ll see you on duty, if you’ll excuse me.”

"Thank you XO, I look forward to seeing more of this ship" Rose replied, putting in her authorisation to unlock her quarters and stepped inside.
