A gurgle came from Lilura's chest after he finished his spiel. She smiled to him as she held out her hand to shake his in return. She replied, "Hi Syvar, I'm Lilura Karakalakss, Chief Engineer." Her tail unwrapped from his waist and held itself near his eye level. "And, as you can see, my tail is fine, no harm done." She stood back up to full height and added, "Race, Soliodaran, from the L'Tandrey Protectorate. I'm waiting on a dance, but until then, what would you like to talk about?"

And now the continuation .....

ON:

"Ah..." Syvar hesitated. "I'd dance but I'm afraid I don't know how. I'm sorry ma'am. But your tail, is it fully agile? You have full motor control over it?" His expression was full of curiosity, quite contrary to what one would expect from a Vulcan. "I can't imagine having one but it could be oh so useful at times... isn't it?"

Lilura gurgled again, her race's sign of light humor. She nodded to Syvar and replied, "Yes, my tail is fully prehensile. I can grasp items, such as when I snagged you to prevent you face planting yourself, and such as my drink." In saying this, Lilura's tail tip moved around her glass as she let go of it. She took a sip from it, then transferred her glass back to her hand. "However, it is considered impolite to drink with you tail in meeting new people, so at this party, I'll use my hands. On useful, well, yeah, like you having your two hands is useful. As I am born with my tail, it is natural I use it. However, among non-tailed races, it can also be a bother, as it seems to be a target of feet and also small kitlings, called rugrats I believe."

"Wow.". The young man was clearly impressed. "What are kitlings?" He then asked, having no real idea what rugrats were either despite having been raised on Earth.

Lilura gurgle laughed gently. She replied, "L'Tandrey term for children. Anyone under adult status is considered a Kitling, which would include you, Kitling, but since I know your name, I now say 'Syvar'." Lilura's tail, not being called upon for any specific tasks, and with kitlings around, now laid down near and around her feet so as to stay out of the way of Kitlings. Its tip, though moved gently about in accordance to Lilura's mood.

"Under adult status?" Syvar laughed openly, his green eyes sparkling with amusement. "I'm twenty four standard years old, I've passed my Kahswan....by both Human and Vulcan norm, I'm considered an adult. I'm also a doctor here on the medical staff."

Lilura gurgle laughed in return, glad to see her faux pas was taken with humor. "Okay, Syvar NOT Kitling. Thank you for letting me know. Your auric signature seemed more like a teenager kitling, so I had assumed such. As far as looks go, hard to tell you humanoid races apart until I really get to know you." She laughed, then said, "More than likely same for others in trying to tell me apart in a crowd of Soliodarans."

"Auric signature?" Syvar frowned. "You can tell by reading an aura? Hoe does that work?"

Lilura shifted to be more of her side to Syvar. She pointed at the side of her muzzle, then continued down the side of her body to her upper thigh. As she did, she said, "I have electrical sensing organs along my sides, similar to the ampullae of Lorenzini, but more involved. Thus, I 'see' the electrical signature given off by living and unliving structures. All living beings have a nervous system of a sort, with a brain, nerves, and sensory system themselves. To me, it is kind of like seeing similar to what the electro-sense bed in the trauma unit in medical shows on its screen. This sense, coupled with my thermal senses under my eyes and along my muzzle cheeks, with my eyes showing the structure to contain what I am sensing, created very interesting life patterns of people, which from speaking to others they relate to as 'that person's aura'. Does that make sense?"

Syvar nodded slowly. "Somewhat," he admitted, "what are you reading from me?"

Lilura closed her eyes and replied, "You're heart is where a Terran's liver is, and beating rather fast, yours at 215 bpm and other organs are arranged differently, almost perfectly bilateral, and your lungs are larger. You don't have a skin lympatic system of perspiration, your muscles are longer, but denser, hence why your frame is thin comparably. I can't read them aurically, but thermally you have some dense spots that are similar to nutrition and water retention, and you have inner eyelids while mine are always there, so probably from a dry, arid planet. Your colors are tannish, orange red, denoting Vulcan, while your nerve signature shows a more complex brain than a Terran, but not as interesting as an L'Tandrey or Soliquoy. You are definitely a male." She opened her eyes, "That is what I get from you, now that I have been studying you. Original meetings, I get a sense of Nervous system structure, some colors, and thermal imaging, so I can always tell Biological sex, but not necessarily race until I have encountered and memorized the typical racial nervous system signature."

The young Vulcan chuckled. "Yes, definitely male," he laughed, "and Vulcan...and wearing my emotions on my sleeve I'm told repeatedly. Why do you say I'm orange red?" He glanced down at his arm and pulled up his sleeve a little. "My skin is green...but yes tanned. I grew up on Earth though and I've actually not been back to Vulcan after leaving it when I was ten years old."

Lilura gurgle-laughed once more. "Not your skin, how I see the colors coming off of you're electromagnetic signature from your nervous system. Part of your Aura."

"Sorry to interrupt," the teen part betazoid said his face covered in some cake crumbs. "But I do owe you a dance. I requested something with more of a beat."

Upon seeing the food particles upon his face, Lilura's tail snaked out and grabbed a cloth from the bartenders side station. As it did, Lilura said, "Hey, Eddie, you have some food upon your face.. here, let me get it." Now her tail tip with cloth moved right up to gently remove the crumbs from Eddie's face. Lilura smiled, saying, "There we go. So, ready for a dance?"

"Thanks," Eddie said although that felt a little weird someone other than his mother or father wiping his face. "Thats why I'm here. Apparently the music is old earth disco. One of the officers made a joke I did not understand that I needed to be wearing a white suit."

"You should join us," Eddie said to the other man.

Syvar nearly choked on his drink. "I'm sorry what?" he asked. "Join you where? Surely, you two should dance alone? Three is a crowd and...I don't know how to dance."

Lilura gurgled in humor once more. She replied, "I would love for you to join us. We are dancing to dance, it is not a date, so two dancing alone is not a requirement. Even if you don't know now, now is a time to just try. Move your body to the music an feel the beat, that is pretty much the only requirements for fun dancing."

She suddenly crouched and moved her head towards the dance floor, with her neck, shoulders, torso, hips, and legs following. Her tail snaked along to be behind her as she was now facing the two while walking backwards to the dance floor. It was a shift body move that showed litheness and dancing ability from her. "As far as a white outfit, not a clue. I am definitely not in white either." She held out her hands to them, stating, "Common, dance time."

"You go," Syvar encouraged the boy, "I will watch."

"Why are Vulcans so uptight?" Eddie asked Lilura as they went onto the dance floor. "I have never seen one dance. They are missing out."

Lilura gurgle-laughed and replied, "I'm not sure if it means uptight, but definitely a 'stick in the mud' for partying, eh?" Lilura began moving her body, hips, and tail to the beat of the music. She did not know what Disco was, and the music seemed a little weird to her, but, it was music, with a beat, and she would move to it. She kept close to Eddie, making sure others around knew she was dancing with him. Her tail provided point, and counter-point, to the rhythm and she just enjoyed herself.

Eddie on a bit of a sugar high from all that cake was all over that dance floor. "Well he's missing out," he merely said. As the music finished, he sensed his father was getting to the point where he was likely to put a stop to his fun. "Thank you for dance Lilura," he bowed politely. "I need to go grab another piece of cake now. My dads decided its my bed time."

Lilura curtsied in return, "You're very welcome, Eddie, and thank you as well. Have a good night."

The teenager nodded and zoomed off in the direction of the cake.

With Eddie having went off onto his bedtime, Lilura now went looking for True as she really wanted a dance with the Terran, even though born on Betazed, wasn't Betazoid. She came over to where True was and smiled to the foot shorter than her Counselor. "Hey, True, How are you doing? I.. do you mind dancing with other females? I really want to get a dance in with you. If not, no problem, I can understand."

True was quite surprised by this. "Actually Lilura, I rarely dance with anyone. I only accepted Eddie because he's well . . . the captain's son and he's young. It was an easy way to learn a bit about him because he might otherwise not want to talk to me. Thank you for the offer, but I really don't think I need to be torturing my body twice."

Lilura listened intently to True, some concern in her eyes and upon her muzzle at hearing the final statement. Lilura smiled, gently curtsied, and replied, "Understood, I wouldn't want you to do that either. Thank you for the consideration, and I'll talk to you later if our paths cross again. I still want to find a dance partner. Take care."

True nodded to her, a slight smile on her lips as she watched Lilura walk off in search of another dance partner.

Lilura went up to the bartender to get another drink. She asked him, "Say, you know the crew better than anyone. Who here is known to like to dance? I am wanting another dance, but it would be awkward to just keep going up to others asking, 'Do you want to dance?'. If no one doesn't, would anybody take umbrage if I took a couple of dances by myself?" Lilura's culture didn't mind dancing by oneself, as long as you were open to someone joining you. However, she had been given 'talks' in the past because she had danced by herself, and she just didn't feel like encountering that here with her new crew.

Malone looked at the alien a little confused. It wasn't his job to be finding dance partners for people.

"I don't really know who would like to dance maam. Everybody is new crew and I barely know them. Plus usually its the case that the person wanting to dance approaches another person. Its not a third parties job I am afraid. In terms of dancing by yourself please, the floors right there. Its more than acceptable."

Lilura gave him a quick curtsy. "Thank you for letting me know, and sorry for the mixup." She headed on out to the area designated for dancing and began to flow with the music, just enjoying moving into and through the musc.
